OFFICERS APPREHEND SUBJECT WEILDING SYRINGEOn Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at approximately 1:10pm, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to the Cmart on Washington Street for a report of a man with a knife. Officers arrived on-scene and spoke with the store clerk who informed them that they were detaining a male in the backroom who had just attempted to steal various fruits and vegetables. The clerk went on to state that the suspect removed a knife from his waistband and began making “stabbing motions” after the clerk confronted him.
Officers then placed the subject into custody and located two hypodermic needles from his jacket pocket. Officers arrested Steven Nguyen, 32, of Boston and charged him with Armed Assault with Intent to Rob and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (hypodermic needle).
OFFICERS LOCATE FLEEING SUSPECT IN POSSESSION OF AN AXE
On Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at approximately 07:58am, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) responded to 256 W.5th Street (Jim’s Variety Store) for a report of a man waving an axe in a threatening manner. Dispatch relayed information that the suspect had fled in a black Lincoln Town car.
While en-route, officers observed the suspect’s vehicle traveling in the area of W. 5th Street. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as: Francis Rossi (48) of Boston. A witness to the incident informed officers that Mr.Rossi was waving an axe in the doorway of Jim’s Variety Store in a threatening manner. The victim went on to state that Mr.Rossi has been banned from the store for the two have had a continuous problem regarding Mr.Rossi shoplifting. Officers located several knifes and an axe from Mr.Rossi’s vehicle.
Officers arrested Francis Rossi, 48, of Boston and charged him with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (axe).
YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T HIDE
On Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at approximately 7:15pm, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop on a blue Volks Wagon Jetta for various motor vehicle charges on Dorchester Ave. The suspect vehicle initially stopped as officers approached the vehicle on foot in order to obtain the operator’s license and registration. However, as officers approached, the vehicle accelerated and fled the area. Officers returned to their cruiser and broadcast a description of the motor vehicle and its operator over the police radio. In short time, responding officers located the un-occupied vehicle on Mayhew Street. Officers further observed that the car had extensive front-end damage. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was located and identified on Greenhalge Street.
Officers arrested Earl James Grant, 23, of Boston and charged him with Failure to Stop for a Police Officer and numerous motor vehicle violations.
