NO KEY .. NO LEASE .. NO FREEDOMAt about 3:47am, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a loud party at 7 Claridge Terrace. On arrival, officers knocked on the door and spoke to the occupant of the apartment. Once inside the apartment, officers noted that the apartment was unfurnished except for an air mattress. When asked to produce a key to the apartment, the occupant stated that he couldn’t because the legal tenant never gave him one. The suspect further stated that his cousin comes over at night to allow him entry to the location. When asked to produce a copy of the lease, the suspect stated that he didn’t have one. When asked to call his legal tenant, the suspect stated he didn’t have his number. When asked if the situation appeared to be unusual, the suspect stated, “Yes. I know I shouldn’t be here.”
Officers arrested Nicheren Peral, 19, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Dwelling (Nighttime).
POLICE ARREST TWO FOR GUN POSSESSION IN MATTAPAN
At about 8:20pm, on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, officers from Area B-3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call to investigate a person call at 151 Orlando Street. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed a suspicious looking vehicle in their neighborhood. Witnesses further state that they observed three males dressed in black exit the car and, then, disappear into a backyard. In short time, officers located one of the suspects. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect took off on foot, turned to his friends and yelled, “Go! Go! Go!” As officers were chasing behind the suspect, officers noted that the suspect was clutching at his waist area in such a way as to suggest he was in possession of a firearm. After a brief foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect. With the suspect in custody, officers conducted a search of the immediate area for a firearm. In short time, officers were able to locate and take possession of a firearm that was found in a snow pile. Officers noticed what appeared to be recently melted snow on top of the firearm indicating that the weapon had recently been discarded.
Officers arrested Eric Barnes, 23, of Boston and Jason Monteiro, 24, of Boston and charged both with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition and Trespassing.
