“Routine Traffic Stop” Leads to Firearm RecoveryAround 8:15AM yesterday morning, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) were on patrol in the area of Washington and Beech Streets when they observed a car fail to stop for a school bus with its red flashing lights on.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and asked the operator for his license and registration which the operator produced. Officers queried the operator’s license and registration and determined that the operator’s license was suspended, and the car’s insurance to be revoked. The operator was placed under arrest due to the above violations and cited.
A search incident to arrest was conducted on the suspect’s car and during that search, offices recovered marijuana, a firearm and ammunition. Consequently the suspect, Henry J. Ibanez, 27, of Randolph was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and cited for Possession of Class D.
Good Samaritans Assist in Apprehension of Robbery Suspect
Yesterday morning around 10:38AM, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) assisted by officers from Special Operations, School Police unit arrested suspect, Justin J. Rich, 31 of East Boston and charged him Unarmed Robbery, Assault and Battery and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Officers initially responded to he location for a report of a larceny in progress. On arrival, officers found the suspect being detained by several witnesses. Officers spoke to the victim and witnesses and learned that the victim was returning from the bank when she physically attacked by the suspect. The victim reported that the suspect kicked and punched her while attempting to grab the money from her all the while yelling, “Give me the money!” The suspect eventually after assaulting the victim made off with the victim’s money. The witnesses stated that they were walking by when they observed the suspect assaulting the victim, and as they approached to help her, the suspect made off with the money. The witnesses assisted the victim after the assault, and then pursued the suspect, caught him and then detained him until officers arrived.

About 6:13PM last night, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 46 Newbury St./Brooks Brothers for a larceny in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to store personnel who reported that a white male about 40 years old with a beard, green coat and light colored pants had just stolen two sweaters from the store and fled. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and started canvassing the area to try and find the suspect. A short time after leaving the store, officers observed an individual fitting the description of the suspect walking in front of 33 Stuart Street. Officers stopped in order to conduct a threshold inquiry of the suspect and approached him.
Upon approaching the suspect, officers asked the suspect where he was coming from and he exclaimed, “I’m coming from the store, you got me!” Officers after hearing the suspect exclaim this statement again asked the suspect where he was coming from and he again repeated, “You got me, I’m coming from Brooks Brothers!” Officers now observed that the suspect was carrying a bag, which contained two sweaters from the Brooks Brothers store. The suspect, Steven N. Woolson, 51, of Boston was returned to the store and positively identified by store employees. The suspect was then charged with Shoplifting over $250.00.
