Destructive Suspect Caught on Candid CameraYesterday morning around 1:12AM, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 607 Boylston St. to investigate a person.
On arrival, officers observed an individual inside the ATM vestibule with the glass panes broken. Shortly after arriving, officers met and spoke to a security guard who put them in touch with other security personnel for the bank. Officers were then informed that the male inside the ATM vestibule had been observed via CCTV smashing a trashcan repeatedly against the glass doors causing the glass pane to break.
The suspect, Mickey B. Moses, 19, of the South End was arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property over $250.00.
OUI Suspect Arrested
Last night around 10:06PM, officers from District E-5 (West Roxbury) were on patrol on Centre St. when they observed a motor vehicle weaving and straddling the lane marker.
Officers followed the car and as they did so observed the operator make a sudden turn almost crashing into a snow bank. The car then made another turn without signaling crashed into a snow bank and then started to weave to avoid hitting some parked cars.
Officers at this time conducted a traffic stop to further investigate the operator’s erratic driving. Officers approached the driver and immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the victim and his car. In addition, the suspect’s eyes were glassy. Officers then requested of the operator his license and registration. The operator at that time reached into his pocket, pulled out his driver’s license, library card and a dollar bill. When asked for his registration, the suspect took out a number of envelopes from his glove compartment and handed all of them to officers. The suspect then attempted to exit his car and was told that he had to wait resulting in his urinating on himself.
Subsequent sobriety tests were unable to be performed due to the suspect’s condition and road conditions. Based on officers’ observations, both before and during the traffic stop, officers determined that the suspect’s ability to operate his car was substantially diminished by virtue of alcohol consumption.
The suspect, Michael C. Hickey, 31, of West Roxbury was arrested and transported to the district station for booking where he was charged with OUI-Alcohol, and issued a citation for Failure to Stay within Marked Lanes. On arrival at the station, the suspect exclaimed, “ [Expletive], I was almost home. I live around the corner!”
Off the Clock But Not Off-Duty
About 12:44PM yesterday, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 760 Boylston St/Lord and Taylor for a larceny in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to store personnel who reported that just prior to police arrival, an unidentified Hispanic male described as approximately 18-20 years old, about 5’7”-5’9” about 125-135 lbs with slim with short black hair and a goatee walked into the store, stole two watches and walked out before he could be stopped. Officers were further given a clothing description of the suspect. A search of the area for the suspect was unsuccessful.
Around 4:15PM, an officer who had just gotten off from work and was driving home observed a male walking on the 4th St. bridge across from Frontage Road matching the suspect description from earlier in the day. The officer then looped around the block and stopped the suspect and requested additional units to assist at his location. Two other off-duty officers, also en route home from work, rerouted their commute and responded to the location where the officer had stopped the shoplifting suspect. As it turns out, the two assisting responding officers had responded to the incident earlier and had viewed video surveillance of the incident and thus were able to positively the suspect.
The suspect, Eliezer Santiago, 31, of Boston was arrested and charged with Shoplifting, and Receiving Stolen Goods for items found on his person during the stop.
