ICE-THROWING SUSPECT ARRESTED DOWNTOWNAt about 2:17am, on Saturday, January 10, 2009, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for vandalism in progress in the area of Broad Street and Surface Road. On arrival, officers spoke to the operator of a taxicab who stated that he was slowing for a red light at the intersection of Surface Road and Broad Street when the suspect threw what appeared to be an ice block through the front windshield of the cab. According to the operator of the cab, the windshield shattered upon impact. At this time, the operator of the cab quickly exited his car and began chasing the suspect. When officers arrived on the scene, the victim was able to point to and positively identify the suspect. Officers arrested Josh Brown, 21, of Boston and charged him with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property.
DOWNED TRAFFIC LIGHTS SIGNAL TROUBLE FOR ONE SUSPECT IN THE SOUTH END
At about 1:54am, on Friday, January 9, 2009, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a hit and run accident with property damage in the area of 655 Massachusetts Ave. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed a motor vehicle crash into the traffic lights at Mass & Shawmut Avenues. Officers observed that the traffic lights were, in fact, knocked over or down. According to witnesses, the operator of the vehicle then exited his car and attempted to flee the scene on foot. In short time, officers were able to locate the suspect. Upon locating the suspect, officers soon noted that the individual appeared to be intoxicated given his glassy eyes, slurred speech, lack of balance and the odor of alcohol emanating from his breath. When asked to consent to a field sobriety test, the suspect replied in the affirmative. After administering the test, officers determined that the suspect’s ability to drive was impaired.
As a result, officers arrested Michael Archibold, 46, of Boston and charged him with Operating Under the Influence (Alcohol) and Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Property Damage).
CALL FOR SHOTS FIRED LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY IN BRIGHTON
At about 3:55am, on Saturday, January 10, 2009, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 64 Mapleton Street. On arrival, officers observed several individuals running from the location and yelling, ”He has a shotgun.” Upon entering the location, officers learned that the shot fired emanated from the 3rd floor. Upon reaching the 3rd floor, officers made their way to a locked bedroom door. Officers proceeded to knock on the door until it was answered. When it was answered, the suspect told officers, “They were trying to kill me.” According to the suspect, he was attending a party on the 1st floor of the location when he bumped into an individual with whom he had had a prior altercation. In short time, the suspect says that he and the individual began arguing again. The suspect then stated that the individual and two of his friends chased him upstairs to his apartment. Once inside his apartment, the suspect says he ran into his bedroom, locked the door and grabbed the shotgun to defend himself. As he was grabbing the shotgun, the suspect says the gun discharged accidentally. Officers located and took possession of the shotgun.
Officers arrested Anthony Inzoda, 18, of Brighton and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Sawed Off Shotgun, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Discharging a Firearm within 500ft of a Dwelling and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
