Threshold Inquiry Leads to Arrest of SuspectYesterday afternoon around 2:55PM, officers from District D-4 (South End) were on patrol in the area of 1296 Boylston St./McDonald’s Restaurant when they observed an individual that matched a suspect description from an earlier Breaking and Entering.
Officers during conversation with the suspect observed that he had a bag containing a Toshiba laptop. Officers asked the suspect whose computer was inside the bag and he stated that it belonged to him and that it was a Tahisha computer. Officers then asked the suspect where he acquired the laptop and he became very evasive with his answers, and finally told officers that he had bought the computer from someone who matched his description. Officers then asked the suspect if they could look at the computer and he replied that they could. Upon further investigation, officers found tax information and other identifying personal information that clearly did not belong to the suspect.
Officers contacted the owner of the laptop through the personal information on the computer and confirmed that the computer was indeed stolen. The victim subsequently returned to her apartment and discovered that her apartment had been broken into and numerous items taken besides the laptop computer, including a flat screen television, bed sheets and the green bag that the suspect had the laptop in.
The suspect, Anthony Pierce, 54, of Mattapan was arrested and charged with Buying and/or Receiving Stolen Goods. The Breaking and Entry to the victim’s apartment is being further investigated to see if the suspect was involved.
Musical Chairs Lands OUI Suspect in Hot Seat
Last night around 8:50AM, officers from District 5 (West Roxbury) were on patrol near the Dedham line when they observed a motor vehicle drive by without it headlights on. Officers’ attentions were drawn to the car as it drove by and they noted that it was an older white male who was operating the motor vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop and as they approached observed the female passenger changing places with the male operator who had been observed driving the car. Officers arrived at the door of the car and as they did so observed the female just settling into the driver’s seat, and the male driver just slumping in the passenger seat with his head rolling back and forth and his eyes half closed. The female now sitting in the driver’s seat told officers that she had been driving the car.
Officers requested the male suspect exit the car and immediately detected a strong odor of alcohol. As the suspect got out of the car, officers noted that the suspect was very unsteady on his feet and had to be supported against the car to prevent himself from falling. Based on the male suspect’s condition, officers formed the opinion that he could not even perform the basic sobriety tests. The suspect, once out of the car, told officers that he had a “few warrants” and that his license was revoked.
The suspect, Frank J. Lepardo, 55, of West Roxbury was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol and Possession of Class B for drugs found on his person during the booking process.
B&E Suspect Caught Sleeping
This morning around 3:30AM, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) responded to a cal for someone inside the caller’s car at the intersection of Hanover and Prince Streets.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim and she informed them that she went to her car and found a male suspect sleeping in the front seat. Officers responded to the victim’s car and there observed a male suspect seated in the front seat still sleeping. Officers approached the motor vehicle and asked the suspect to exit the car but he refused. After refusing the officers’ requests, the suspect was removed from the car and placed under arrest.
After removing the suspect from the car, officers conducted a search of the suspect and found a bag of marijuana on his person. The suspect, Brian L. Sheldon, 30, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Class D.
