Christmas Scrooge Arrested Around 10:04PM on December 24, 2008, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 52 Church St. in Dorchester for an alarm call.
On arrival, officers observed a female in the front window who flagged officers down. Officers next observed a male in the front window of the second floor who immediately ducked away from view upon seeing officers and then re-appeared a few seconds later.
Officers then made entry into the building and while making their way to the victims encountered the same male that had been looking through the window in the hallway. Officers inquired of the male how long he had been there and he stated that he had been there for a long time but had not heard or seen anything relating to the breaking and entering to the upstairs apartment.
Officers then responded to the victim’s apartment and she reported to officers that she left her house around 9:35PM, and shortly after leaving received a phone call from her alarm company reporting an entry to her apartment. The victim then told officers that she has had problems with her downstairs neighbor in the past and that he may have had something to do with the break to her partment. Additionally the victim reported that her neighbor was sitting on the stairs when she left and when she returned her neighbor was still on the stairs. The victim then explained to officers that she never allows anyone with shoes and then pointed out footprints that had been left in her house by the intruder.
Officers then went back to her neighbor who they had earlier encountered in the hallway. While speaking to the suspect, officers looked at his shoes and they matched the prints in the victim’s apartment. While speaking to the now suspect neighbor, officers located a stolen GPS which he admitted purchasing from a drug addict.
The suspect, Joseph Escarraman, 18, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property, and his sneakers seized as evidence for further investigation of the breaking and entry to the victim’s apartment.
Non-Fatal Shooting Incident at Columbia Road and Stoughton Street
Early this morning around 1:26AM, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the Boston Medical Center for a report of two self-transported shooting victims.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victims who reported that they were shot while leaving a bar near the intersection of Columbia Rd. and Stoughton Street. The victim stated that they were walking out the bar at the above location when they heard three to four gunshots coming from an unknown direction. One of the victims, a 31-year old woman, then told officer that she next felt a burning sensation in her back and her suspicions were confirmed by her friend. The other victim, a 22-year old woman, reported the same facts except for the fact that her knee was grazed by a bullet.
The victims accompanied by a friend next reported that they got in their car and drove to the hospital. Both victims’ wounds were deemed non-life threatening.
