DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13, 2008

BROKEN BRAKE LIGHT LEADS TO GUN ARREST IN ROXBURYAt about 9:37pm, on Friday, December 12, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a motor vehicle traveling along Glenway Street with a defective brake light. As a result of the defective light, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. Upon stopping the car, officers detected an odor of marijuana. When asked about the odor, the operator of the car stated, “We smoked some an hour ago.” When asked if there was any additional marijuana in the car, the operator stated, “A little bit.” At this point, officers asked all three occupants to exit the motor vehicle. While conducting a pat frisk of the rear passenger, officers discovered that the individual was in possession of a firearm. After seizing the weapon, officers asked the suspect if he had a license to carry. To which, the suspect stated, “I don’t have one.”
Officers arrested Wilton DePina, 21, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and the Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
BAD BEHAVIOR + BAD CREDIT LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 5:39pm, on Friday, December 12, 2008, detail officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a person threatening the store manager at the Symphony Market. On arrival, officers observed a highly intoxicated white male drinking a soda. According to store employees the suspect entered the store grabbed some items and, then, attempted to pay for them using a debit card that had no money on it. According to store employees, when they told the suspect that the card wasn’t valid, the suspect began yelling and swearing at them. Furthermore, the employees say, when they asked the suspect to leave the store, the suspect refused and even encouraged them to call police. While waiting for the police to arrive, the victim says the suspect grabbed a Starbucks cappuccino, drank it and then handed the empty can to the employee, saying, “Take the can (expletive)! It’s empty.”
Officers arrested Dan McLaughlin, 30, of Boston and charged him with Disturbing the Peace.
WINDOW-BREAKER ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH END
At about 1:16am, on Saturday, December 13, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for person breaking car windows in the area of 535 Harrison Ave. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she observed an individual kick and punch the windows on her car. Officers observed broken glass strewn on the ground in the area of the car. In short time, officers located the individual responsible for breaking the windows. Officers observed that the suspect’s fingers and knuckles were bleeding.
Officers arrested Jose Juarbe, 19, of Boston and charged him with Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property (Over $250.00)
