DEATH INVESTIGATION AT 111 GLENWAY STREET

About 11:03pm on Monday December 8, 2008, Officers responded to the area of McLellan and Page Street for a ShotSpotter notification for shots fired. While en route to the area, the call was upgraded by the dispatcher to a Person Shot at 111 Glenway Street in Mattapan. On arrival, Officers observed a 19 year old black male, lying on his back unresponsive, and suffering from what appeared to be several gunshots wounds. The victim was lying on the sidewalk in between 115 & 119 Glenway St. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.Officers canvassed the area and spoke to a witness who stated to hearing several shots. A witness reported seeing a black male, in his 20\’s, wearing a dark black hooded sweatshirt, fleeing down Glenway. Another witness stated seeing a black male wearing a dark coat & dark jeans, place an object in to his waistband with his right hand, and then flee up Fowler St. Officers searched the area to no avail.
This marks the 59th homicide of the year. Last year at this time, there were 64.
