OUI Suspect Arrested after Fleeing Scene of AccidentSunday morning around 4:10AM, officers from District E-13 arrested suspect, Ronald B. Holmes, 20, of South Boston and charged him with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol, Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Property Damage, Operating a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Alcohol, and Being a Person Under 21 Years of Age in Possession of Alcohol.
Officers were alerted to this incident while they were checking the rear of 218 South Street and heard a loud crashing sound. Officers immediately went to the front of the location and there observed four cars that had sustained damage after the vehicle being operated by the suspect struck those cars. Officers spoke to witnesses who supplied officers with a description of the suspect motor vehicle, and its direction of flight.
A description of the suspect motor vehicle was broadcast and based on that information, the suspect motor vehicle was located a short time later in front of 13 Spauling Street. There, the suspect was observed standing outside the car speaking on his cell phone along with a passenger who appeared to be bleeding from the head. Officers there noted that the suspect had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, and slurred speech. The suspect failed sobriety test and consequently was placed under arrest and charged with above noted criminal charges. The passenger was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. During an inventory check of the suspect’s car, officers discovered an open container of vodka that lead to further charges.
Suspect Arrested after Setting Fire to “Stay Warm”
Around 9:00AM on Sunday 11/30/08 officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to 50 West Broadway for a report of smoke coming from the construction site at this location.
On arrival, officers could detect the odor of burning from a trailer located inside the fence at the above location. Officers requested the Boston Fire Department to the incident location, and when BFD arrived, officers observed an individual inside the fenced area attempting to leave. The gate was opened and the suspect stopped. Once inside, officers questioned the suspect who told officers that he did not work there nor had he been given permission to be there. During further investigation, officers learned that the suspect had entered the trailer and lit a fire in a metal trash bin to keep warm.
The suspect, Stephen Shea, 46, of Boston was arrested and charged with Entry without Breaking and Trespass.
