POLICE ARREST SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH SHOOTING INCIDENT IN THE AREA OF 43 WEST WALNUT PARKAt about 2:45pm, on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for a person shot in the area of 43 West Walnut Park in Roxbury. On arrival, officers located an individual, a black male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
In the aftermath of the incident, Boston Police detectives, after working tirelessly to develop several leads, were able to identify the suspect believed to be responsible for the above shooting.
Today, on Thursday, November 6, 2008, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, with an arrest warrant in hand, arrested Travonnie Burris, 18, of Roxbury and charged him with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder.
QUICK THINKING OFFICERS PROVIDE A LIFT TO PEDESTRIAN STRUCK IN BRIGHTON
At about 9:17pm, on Wednesday, November 6, 2008, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a pedestrian struck in the area of 572 Washington Street. On arrival, officers observed a pedestrian pinned underneath a motor vehicle. Officers quickly retrieved two motor vehicle jacks from their respective cruisers and, with assistance from EMT’s, proceeded to elevate the car in an effort to extract the victim. With the motor vehicle elevated, officers, EMT’s and several good samaritans helped free the victim. The victim was immediately transported to the Brigham & Women’s Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officers learned that the pedestrian had been struck by two motor vehicles as he crossed the street. Officers spoke to the operators of the motor vehicles involved in the incident and, according to both operators, neither saw the victim as he crossed.
PURSE SNATCHER ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH END
At about 7:40pm, on Wednesday, November 6, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call to investigate a person who tried to steal a woman’s purse in the area of 551 Massachusetts Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that as she was entering her apartment building, the suspect followed behind her saying that his friend lived in the building. Once inside, however, the suspect grabbed the victim’s purse. The victim says she began yelling and her neighbors exited their apartments to assist. At this point, the victim says the suspect fled the building. Officers asked the victim to join them on a search of the immediate area. While searching the area, the victim observed the suspect.
Officers arrested Dalvin Guillen-Diaz, 20, of Boston and charged him with Assault with the Intent to Rob.
