NO SMOKING POLICY LANDS ONE IN POLICE CUSTODYAt about 4:15pm, on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) responded to a radio call for a fight at 170 Marion Street. On arrival, officers spoke to a restaurant employee who stated that the suspect in this case walked into their restaurant smoking a cigarette. Given the no-smoking policy of the restaurant, the suspect was asked to extinguish the cigarette. Upon being asked to extinguish the cigarette, the suspect angrily threw the cigarette in the direction of the employee and stated, “I’m going to cut everyone’s throat.” At this point, the suspect lit another cigarette. Upon seeing this, restaurant personnel asked the suspect to leave the establishment. While leaving the establishment, the suspect slapped a 65 year-old female in the face. Officer located the suspect standing across the street from the restaurant. While talking to the suspect, officers noted that the suspect was extremely intoxicated.
Officers arrested Joyce Guinasso, 41, of Boston and charged her with Assault & Battery on a Person Over 65.
WINDOW BREAKING SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 1:12am, on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for the destruction of property in the area 7 Elmdale Street. While in route to the call, the radio dispatcher informed officers that two males (one wearing a gray sweatsuit) were seen leaving the area after throwing a rock through the window of a parked car. In short time, officers located two individuals matching the description of the suspects. When officers stopped the individuals, officers noted that both suspects appeared to be out of breath. When asked to explain the reason for being out of breath, both suspects stated that they were cigarette smokers. While officers were questioning the suspects, several witnesses approached the officers and positively identified the suspects.
Officers arrested Andrew Craddock, 17, of Boston and Edmilson Andrade, 19, of Randolph and charged both with the Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property.
POLICE ARREST ONE FOR GUN POSSESSION
At about 9:55am, on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, officers form the Youth Violence Strike Force and Area B-2 (Roxbury) were on patrol when they observed a large group of kids hanging out in the area of 489 Washington Street. When officers approached the group, officers observed one of the kids clutch at his waist in such a way as to suggest he was in possession of a firearm. When officers approached the suspect, officers observed the suspect to be visibly shaking, breathing heavily with his eyes darting left to right. Fearing the presence of a weapon, officers attempted to frisk the suspect. While attempting to do so, the suspect pushed the officers in an effort to make good his escape. After a brief struggle, officers were able to subdue the suspect. A frisk of the suspect enabled officers to locate and seize a firearm. Officers arrested a 16 year-old male from Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Loaded Firearm on a Public Way.
