Suspect Arrested for Whiffle Bat AssaultAbout 6:34PM on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for an assault and battery in progress at 8 Park Plaza/ 7 Eleven.
En route to the call, officers were advised that the suspect was standing outside the store and that he had just struck the store clerk on the head with a yellow plastic whiffle baseball bat.
On arrival, officers observed an individual standing outside the store with a yellow whiffle bat in his hand and detained him while they spoke to the victim. Officers then spoke to the victim who told them that the suspect came in the store, purchased a drink and a whiffle baseball bat, paid for it and then struck him on the head with the bat. The victim reported that when the suspect saw him calling the police he said to him, “I’m trying to be your friend, what’s wrong?”
The suspect, Kevin Crowe, 33, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon after the victim was observed to have a small bump on his head.
B&E Suspect Strikes Out at Two
At approximately 6:50PM on Saturday, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress the intersection of East 3rd St and O Street. The male suspect was described as a white male between 5’11” and 6’ wearing a Fire Department sweatshirt with a screwdriver in hand. En route to the call, officers received a second call for a second call for a breaking and entering in progress at 2nd and N Streets with the suspect “…messing around with the ignition.”
On arrival, officers observed the suspect inside the car sitting in the driver’s seat leaning toward the ignition with an object in his hands prying on the car’s ignition. As officers were approaching the vehicle, the suspect jumped out of the vehicle and fled into the M Street Park pursued by officers. The suspect was caught after a brief foot pursuit and placed into custody.
Officers then responded to the location of the first call and there spoke to witnesses who reported to officers that they had observed the suspect break into a motor vehicle and attempt to steal it. The witnesses reported that when they approached the suspect to confront him, he fled up O St. where he apparently found another car to break into and try to steal. Officers were able to locate two screwdrivers that the suspect had used in his two attempts to steal cars.
The suspect, John M. Wardynski, Jr., 46, of South Boston was arrested and charged with two counts of Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, Malicious Destruction of Property, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Attempted Auto Theft and Resisting Arrest.
32 Year-Old OUI Suspect Requests Mother after Arrest
Last night around10:56PM, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested suspect, Tomarr Sanders, 32, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Officers initially observed the suspect walking and drinking from a green colored shiny bottle resembling a beer bottle in the area of Leslie St. near Dix Street in Dorchester. Officers observed the suspect walking in the direction of Dix St. and lost sight of him for a short while and thereafter observed the suspect operating a car on Dix St. in the direction of Lafield Street. Officers activated their lights to conduct a traffic stop as the suspect drove by them, concerned that they had just observed the suspect drinking and that he was now driving. As officers turned on their lights behind the suspect’s car, her immediately pulled into the driveway of 19 Dix St. and quickly exited his car.
Officers then approached the suspect and directed him to stay in his car while they conducted their investigation as to whether he was operating under the influence of alcohol. Officers approached the suspect and immediately observed a bottle of Heineken in a cup. The suspect was then asked for his license and registration at which point he asked the officer, “Why am I being pulled over?” The suspect’s speech was slurred and incoherent during the exchange with officers and he had to be asked many time s before he produced his license. After a lengthy exchange, the suspect was asked to exit his car to perform sobriety tests in order to assess his ability to safely operate his car.
Officers demonstrated the sobriety tests to the suspect after he was asked to perform the tests. The suspect failed to heed officers’ directions and when he did failed the tests. After being prompted several times and told how to perform the tests, the suspect exclaimed to officers, “F*#! it! Just lock me up!” The suspect was then placed under arrest and charged with OUI-Liquor, Drinking in Public and issued a $500 citation for having an open container of alcohol in a car. At the station, the suspect was belligerent and berated officers with insults. After being subjected to further testing at the station, the suspect demanded of officers, “Get my mother!”
