SUSPECT WANTED IN CONNECTION WITH TWO SAME DAY ARMED ROBBERIES ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER At about 7:16pm, on Tuesday, August 12, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in progress in the area of 1872 Dorchester Ave. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he was walking along Dorchester Ave when he heard someone yell, “Where are you from?” When he turned around, the victim says two individuals (two black males) approached him, brandished a firearm and demanded his money and cell phone. At this point, the victim obliged and handed his phone to the suspects. The victim says he then watched the suspects jump into a motor vehicle (a tan Chevy Trailblazer) and flee the scene. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspects and a description of their motor vehicle over Channel 6 of the police radio.
In short time, officers in the area observed a motor vehicle matching the description provided by the victim. The vehicle was parked in the area of Geneva Ave and Leroy Street. As officers were approaching the car, officers heard the door locks engage and lock. Officers then observed an individual standing near the car. When asked if he owned the car, the individual stated, ”It’s mine.” While officers were speaking to the individual, the victim was brought to the scene for identification purposes. Once on scene, the victim positively identified the suspect, saying, “Yah, he’s the one .. he had the gun.” Officers arrested a 16 year-old male from Dorchester and charged him with Armed Robbery, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), and Threats. A search of the suspect’s motor vehicle enabled officers to recover the victim’s cell phone.
Earlier in the evening, approximately 30 minutes before the above-mentioned incident, two victims walked into Area C-11 to report that two black males had just robbed them. According to the victims, one of the males brandished a gun and demanded money and a cell phone. To the officer taking the report, the description of the suspects sounded very much like the suspects involved in the incident above. As a result, since the 16 year-old suspect in the above incident was still being questioned, the victims were brought to the scene where the suspect was being detained. Once on scene, the victims were able to positively identify the suspect as the person who robbed them. As a result, the 16 year-old was charged with a 2nd count of Armed Robbery, and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
