Falling Asleep at the Wheel Lands Driver in JailYesterday morning around 8:35am, officers from District D-14 (Allston and Brighton) arrested Kandon. E. Poindexter, 20, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License and Obstructing Traffic.
Officers were on patrol in the area of 20 Washington St. when they observed the above suspect sleeping at the wheel of his car after the light had changed from red to green causing traffic backup. Officers approached the car after its operator had slept through three cycles of the light and initiated a traffic stop after waking him up. Officers requested of the suspect his license and registration after having him pull over to the curb. Officers then learned that the suspect’s license to operate a car was suspended. The suspect was then placed under arrests and charged with the above offenses.
From Stealing a Bike to Breaking Into a House
Last night around 8:31am, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 41 Mills St. for vandalism in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported to officers that he had followed a suspect whom he observed trying to steal his bicycle when he exited the National Wholesale Liquidators on Morrissey Boulevard. The victim stated that he followed the suspect and saw him go into a house on 2A Green Street.
Officers went to the given address and found the suspect in the house. The victim immediately identified the suspect when he exited the house. When questioned about how he came to be in that house, the suspect claimed that he had gone in the house with the permission of the owner. Officers contacted the owner of the house who refuted the suspect’s claim that he had been given permission to enter the house.
The suspect, Luis Aiujo, 36, of Boston was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Residence in the Nighttime and Possession of Burglarious Tools after officers located tools used for burglary on his person. Officers inspected the victim’s bicycle and lock and saw signs of attempted theft on the lock and seat.

Officers Nab Dangerous Drunk Driver
At approximately 12:20am on Friday, July 11, special operations officers conducting traffic enforcement as part of the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” program observed an oncoming vehicle driving over the posted speed limit near 150 American Legion Highway in Dorchester. The vehicle was swerving dangerously and passing other vehicles on the road.
Officers attempted to stop the car by flashing a light at it, but the vehicle continued to approach them at a high speed. The vehicle swerved around the officers and came to a stop after the operator noticed the officers standing in the street. The officers approached the driver’s side window to speak to the operator. They observed that his eyes were glassy, his speech was incoherent, and a strong odor of alcohol emanated from his person. When informed of his speeding violation, the operator became upset, insisting that he had been driving at the appropriate speed limit. He fumbled with his license and registration while handing them over to the officers.
The operator was identified as Courtney Holland, 44, of Roxbury. When asked where he was going, he began yelling at the officers, telling them that he was heading home to see his daughter. However, officers observed that Mr. Holland was driving in the opposite direction of the address listed on his license.
The officers began to perform a sobriety test on Mr. Holland, but he did not cooperate. He stepped out of his vehicle, began to open and close the doors, and stated that he would be driving away himself and that no one would be taking his car. Officers than placed him under arrest. Mr. Holland resisted the officers briefly, and when placed in the back seat of a cruiser he began to kick the doors and scream.
The officers transported Mr. Holland to the booking area at District B-3, where he was cited for Speeding and charged with Operating Under the Influence. He will be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court.
Two Suspects Arrested for Breaking into Eight Cars
This morning around 3:36am, officers from E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to the area of 122 Austin St. in Hyde Park for two suspicious looking males looking into cars.
On arrival, officers observed the two described suspicious acting males who immediately fled. Officers spoke to the caller who explained that the suspects were seen peering into the windows of several cars parked on the street. Officers further investigated the area that the suspects had been seen and discovered eight cars that had been broken into and/or vandalized.
Officers then with the assistance of numerous units searched the area for the suspects and were able to successfully locate both. Suspects, Frederick H. Griffin, 18, of Needham and Christopher K. Carrigg, 19, of Roslindale were both arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering Motor Vehicle. After the suspects were arrested several items stolen from the cars were recovered from them.
