Shooting Incident at 60 Homes Avenue in DorchesterAt approximately 12:23AM this morning, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 60 Homes Ave. for a person shot.
On arrival, officers found three young men, a 13 year old, a 15 year old and a 16 year old suffering from non-life threatening injuries. The 13 year-old suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his left foot, the 15 year-old suspect suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg, and the 16 year-old victim suffered a graze to his left hand. All three victims were transported to Boston Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Initial investigation indicated that the victims were standing on the third floor porch of the above address when they were struck by gunfire.
The facts and circumstances of this incident are under investigation by C-11 district detectives. Anyone with information is urged to contact C-11 detectives at (617) 343-4335. “You Need a License to Drive a Stolen Car?”
Around 10:52AM yesterday, an officer performing a detail observed a car drive that was being operated by an individual known to him not to have a driver’s license.
The detail officers immediately broadcast a description of the car along with its unlicensed operator. Officers learned a short time after the broadcast that the car being operated by the suspect was stolen. A short time after the broadcast, officers on patrol observed the suspect exiting the stolen car at 47 B Street. As officers exited their cruiser to stop the suspect, they observed him speed walk into the building.
Officers entered the building and once inside found the suspect on the second floor landing. The suspect was placed under arrest once found, and while being walked out of the building exclaimed to officers “You need a license to drive a stolen car?!”
The suspect, Jason R. Coughlin, 29, of South Boston was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle without Being Licensed, and Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle.
No Valet Parking Leads to Arrest
At about 2:21PM yesterday (7/9/2008), a Boston Police officer performing a detail at Brigham and Women’s Hospital valet parking arrested suspect, Angela O. Arthur, 33, of Hyde Park and charged her Obstructing Traffic, and Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer.
The officer was attempting to clear the Main/Emergency Entrance due to a large volume of traffic. At this time, a light colored SUV pulled up, and stopped in the crosswalk blocking the flow of traffic. The suspect then exited her car, and continued to walk inside the hospital despite the detail officer’s urging her to move the car because it was impeding the flow of traffic into the emergency/main entrance of the hospital. At this time, the officer asked the woman to please get back into her motor vehicle, because her motor vehicle could not be left there as it was preventing any other vehicles from entering the hospital. The suspect belligerently responded “Do what,” “do what,” “do what,” and pointed to another individual in the car. At this time the officer demanded the suspect produce her license and registration. The black female responded “No” to the officer’s request, at which time he gave her a final opportunity to produce her license and registration. She responded with, “I don’t have one, now what!”
The officer, now faced with the suspect’s refusal to provide her license and registration, placed her under arrest.
Breaking and Entering Suspect Pursued by Victim, and Caught by Officer
Yesterday around 4:00PM, an officer from District D-4 (South End) arrested a 15 year-old juvenile from Boston and charged him with Attempted Breaking and Entering Residence in the Daytime, and Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
An officer was on bicycle patrol in the area of Peterborough and Jersey Streets when they observed the suspect being pursued. The officer then pursued the suspect, stopped and detained him while he further investigated. The officer spoke to the other individual who was chasing the suspect, and learned that he was the victim of an attempted breaking and entering to his house.
The victim told officers that he arrived home to find the suspect, who was wearing a bandana around his face, sticking a knife into the doorjamb of his apartment trying to open the door. The victim confronted the suspect when the suspect aimed the knife at him and fled down the back stairway to the apartment. The suspect was then placed under arrest, and an eight-inch butcher knife recovered from him as well as a bandana.
