Sting Operation Nets Suspect for Bike TheftLast night around 10:00PM, officers from District B-2 (Dorchester and Roxbury) arrested suspect, Moses Diaz, 36, of Dorchester and charged him with Larceny over $250 for stealing a bicycle.
Officers were conducting a sting operation in the area of Dudley and North Streets due to numerous larceny incidents and thefts from cars in the area. This sting operation operated by officers placing a “bait vehicle” containing valuable merchandise in the area and watching to see if any suspect would then try to either break into the car or take the bicycle set up on a bike rack outside the car.
Officers set up surveillance in nearby locations and monitored to see if any suspects would take the “bait.” While monitoring the car, officers observed the suspect walk up to the car, remove the bicycle from the bike rack and attempt to ride the bike away. The suspect tried to elude officers once approached but was caught after a brief foot pursuit during which the suspect ran into an alley and attempted to hide the bike behind a parked motor vehicle. The suspect was apprehended, placed under arrest and the bike recovered.

On scene, officers located a victim suffering a gunshot wound to the inner right knee. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital by ambulance with non life-threatening injuries. At the scene, officers recovered ballistic evidence.
Interview of witnesses revealed that three gunshots were heard and a small red car was observed fleeing the scene. It is unclear at this time whether the suspect(s) and/or victim were patrons of the club.

Carjacking Incident at Dudley and Woodward Streets
This morning around 12:03AM, officers from District B-2 (Dorchester and Roxbury) responded to 25 Woodward St. for a person screaming for help.
On arrival, officers canvassed the area and located the victim on Magazine St suffering a bruise and lump on his forehead. Health and Hospitals EMTs were called to the scene and responded to treat the victim. Officers then spoke to the victim who reported that he was asked by friends to give two stranded individuals a ride from Brockton to Boston for which he received $10 for gas. The victim reported that when he got in Boston near the intersection of Dudley and Magazine Streets, the two individuals he had given a ride “jumped”/assaulted him, took his car and fled.
A broadcast with the pertinent information was given and several hours later, the victim’s car was located abandoned on Route 24 by the Massachusetts State Police.
