PLAYING DEAD IS NO LAUGHING MATTERAt about 3:42pm, on Thursday, June 5, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for protesters throwing what appeared to be dummy bodies into the street in front of the bio-lab at 609 Albany Street. On arrival, officers observed several females milling about on the sidewalk in front of the bio-lab. Officers further observed that one of the females had white makeup on her face, with red makeup mixed in to look as if she had blood on her face. The female with the makeup on her face then lay down on the sidewalk. While she was on the ground, a second female drew a chalk outline of her body on the sidewalk. As this was transpiring, both pedestrians and cars began slowing down to witness the activity. In short time, traffic began to back up. At this point, officers asked the females if they were in possession of a permit allowing them to occupy the sidewalk. To which, the suspects stated, “No.” Officers arrested Mary Collela, 21, of Cambridge and Leeanne McHugh, 22, of Dorchester and charged both with Disturbing the Peace and Damage to Property (Graffiti).
BUYING BOOZE FOR A MINOR IS AGAINST THE LAW
At about 9:20pm, on Thursday, June 5, 2008, officers from Area A-7 (East Boston) were on patrol when they observed two males walking on Brandywine Drive towards intersection of Saratoga and Trident Streets. Officers knew one of the individuals to be under 21 years of age. Officers further observed that the individual was carrying what appeared to be a bottle of an alcoholic beverage, believed to be Jose Cuervo. As such, officers approached the individual and asked him about the bottle. When asked how he was able to procure the alcohol, the suspect’s friend stated, “I take the blame. I bought it for him.” As a result, officers arrested James Warner, 21, of East Boston for Procuring Alcohol for a Minor.
