THREE ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED ROBBERY DOWNTOWNAt about 2:30am, on Sunday, June 1, 2008, officers from Area A-1 responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in progress at the intersection Washington and Lagrange Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that three individuals (one white male and two black males) had just tried to rob him. According to the victim, the suspects showed a knife, punched him and demanded his chain. In short time, officers located three individuals who matched the description provided by the victim. The suspects were sitting inside a motor vehicle located on Stuart Street. While officers were speaking to the suspects, the victim was brought to the scene.
After the victim positively identified the suspects, officers arrested James Sena, 29, of Brighton; Maurice Coates, 30, of Quincy; Jock Pickney, 37, of Brighton and charged all three with Attempted Robbery. A search of the suspects enabled officers to recover a knife and an undisclosed amount of a Class B drug. As a result, the suspects were also charged with Possession of a Class B Drug.
EARLY MORNING B&E SUSPECT ARRESTED IN BRIGHTON
At about 7:10am, on Sunday, June 1, 2008, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 42 Ashford Street. While en route to the call, a description of the suspect (a 6’0” black male, wearing a black hat, brown pants, gray scully cap, carrying a garbage bag) was broadcast over Channel 5 of the police radio. In short time, officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect appeared to be swearing and nervous. When asked to provide a reason for being in the area, the suspect stated he was collecting cans in the area. Suspect further stated that, in his efforts to locate cans, he had been walking through the back yards of some of the houses in the area of Ashford Street. When asked by officers if he had a weapon, the suspect stated yes, and, then lifted his shirt to reveal a knife tucked into his waistband. Officers secured and seized the knife. A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover a white iPod. When officers spoke to the victim, the victim was able to positively identify the object as one belonging to her.
Officers arrested Jeffery Matthews, 51, of Allston and charged him with Breaking & Entering (Daytime) and Larceny (Over $250.00).
