CAR BREAK VICTIM HELPS POLICE APPREHEND SUSPECTAt about 8:23am, on Monday, May 26, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 1301 Boylston Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she had parked her car in front of 1301 Boylston Street when she arrived for work at about 5:00am. According to the victim, she left work to take a break at about 8:00am. As she was walking by her car, the victim says she noticed damage to the rear passenger window of her motor vehicle. Furthermore, the victim says as she walked around her car, she noticed an individual, holding two bags that belonged to her, walking away from the car. The victim says she asked him to stop, but the suspect quickly walked away. Officers promptly broadcast a description of the suspect (a light skinned black male, wearing a blue jacket and dark pants, carrying two shopping bags) over Channel 5 of the police radio. In short time, officers located an individual matching the description of the suspect. Consequently, officers transported the victim to where the suspect was being detained. Once on scene, the victim was able to positively identify the suspect. Officers arrested Juan Marrero, 36, of Roxbury and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle (daytime) and Receiving Stolen Property.
FOUR ARRESTED FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION IN JAMAICA PLAIN
At about 9:17pm, on Monday, May 26, 2008, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) observed a motor vehicle, with four occupants, parked in the area of Oakdale Street in Jamaica Plain. While approaching the car, officers observed a red plastic bag, commonly used for packaging marijuana, lying on the ground directly next to the car. While speaking to the operator of the vehicle, officers observed a second red plastic bag on the floor of the motor vehicle. Given their observations, officers instructed the occupants to exit the motor vehicle. A search of the motor vehicle enabled officers to locate and recover three red plastic bags which contained a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Yorqui Abreu, 18, of Boston, Mike Tejeda, 18, Roxbury, Ernesto Oviedo, 19, of Jamaica Plain, Daniel Nova, 17, of Roxbury and charged all four with the Possession of a Class D Drug (marijuana).
STOLEN CAR SUSPECT ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 11:05pm, on Monday, May 26, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a black Honda traveling in the area of Adams Street and Neponset Avenue. A query of the motor vehicle’s registration showed that the motor vehicle had been reported stolen on Sunday, May 26, 2008. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the motor vehicle. Once the vehicle was stopped, officers approached the car and instructed the operator to turn the engine off. However, instead of turning the engine off, in an effort to escape, the operator placed the vehicle into reverse. Since there were police cruisers positioned both in front of and behind the suspect’s motor vehicle, there was no way the suspect vehicle could flee. Officers removed the suspect from the motor vehicle and place him into custody. While in custody, officers learned that the suspect did not have a license. Officers arrested Branden Bias, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Operating without a License & Resisting Arrest.
