HAVING TO GO NO EXCUSE FOR GOING IN PUBLIC At about 5:30pm, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, an officer performing a paid detail in the area of 575 Boylston Street observed an individual walk into the Copley Square Park, unzip his pants and urinate on a tree. Given the large number of people in the park at the time, the detail officer approached the urinator. When the suspect saw the officer approaching, the suspect quickly zipped up and began walking away in a hurried manner. Upon speaking to the suspect, the suspect stated, “If I did take a leak .. it was only because I have diabetes.” Given the proximity of several public restrooms, officers arrested Gregory Gales, 36, of Cambridge and charged him with Indecent Exposure.
PASSING A SCHOOL BUS LEADS TO AN ARREST IN DORCHESTER
At about 8:41am, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle pass a school bus that was dropping off students at the Russell Elementary School at 740 Columbia Road. Officers further noted that the school bus had its’ red lights and stop sign activated. As a result, officers quickly activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the motor vehicle. When officers asked the operator of the motor vehicle to produce his license and registration, the operator stated, “I don’t have one.” A check of the operator’s license status revealed that the operator’s right to operate had been suspended. In addition to issuing a citation for Passing a School Bus when Red Lights Flashing, officers arrested Michael Bureau, 39, of Quincy and charged him with Operating After License Suspended.
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY LANDS TWO IN POLICE CUSTODY
At about 6:10pm, on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) and the Safe Street Team responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress in the area of Winter and Parish Street. On arrival, officers spoke to two victims who stated that they were walking along the street when they were approached by three black females. According to the victims, the suspects punched one of the victims and attempted to steal her purse. When the victim refused to relinquish her bag, the suspects fled. Moments later, the suspects returned. At this time, the victims ran into a fire station and called police. A description of the suspects was promptly broadcast over channel 6 of the police radio. In an effort to locate the suspects, the victims were placed in a cruiser to assist in the search. In short time, the victims spotted one of the suspects. When the suspect saw the officers approaching, the suspect ran into a house. Officers located two of the three suspects on the 3rd floor landing of the building. Officers arrested Tiana Collins, 18, of Dorchester and a 16 year-old female from Dorchester and charged both with Attempted Robbery (Unarmed).
