Unruly Hotel Guest Spends Night in the CellYesterday, Saturday, May 17, 2008, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to 10 Huntington Avenue, the Westin Hotel for a drunk male exposing himself.
On arrival, officers met with hotel security who reported that an unknown hotel patron had been observed sitting in a chair in the lobby with his hands down his pants. Hotel security had asked the guest to leave several times prior to police arrival but he had refused. Officers were directed to the suspect who was still seating in the lobby and they observed him sitting in a chair holding a paper cup containing alcoholic beverage. In addition, officers observed the suspect’s pants’ zipper to be down and a white plastic bag containing several bottles of vodka.
After speaking with the suspect, officers advised him that he would have to leave, as he was no longer welcomed in the hotel. The suspect refused to leave after being asked several times to leave. The suspect was informed that he would be subject to arrest if he refused to leave but nevertheless continued to refuse to leave.
The suspect after refusing to leave was placed under arrest after a brief struggle. The suspect, Andrew W. Elvin, 44, of Bass Harbor, ME was arrested and charged with Indecent Exposure, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Class B for a class B substance found on his person after being placed under arrest.
Stealth Mode of Bicycle Units Results in Arrest
Last night, Saturday, May 17, 2008, officers from the Citywide Mountain Bike Unit while on patrol in the Madison Park Housing complex arrested suspects, Roberto Molina, 35, and Henry Ortiz, 32, both of Roxbury and charged them with Possession of Class D.
Officers were on patrol in the Madison Park housing when they rode past the suspects who were seated in a parked car and observed suspect, Ortiz in the process of rolling a marijuana joint. Officers noted that suspect appeared to have a brown paper like substance in his hand with a green leafy like substance in it. Officers quickly came to a stop and as the suspects observed the officers, suspect Ortiz quickly closed his hands and stated to officers through the partially open window, “Alright, you got me. This is all I got!”
Both occupants were removed from the car, and officers recovered another bag of marijuana in the car despite the fact that both occupants had alleged that there was no more drugs in the car.
Safe Street Team Identifies Assault and Shoplifting Suspect
Last night around 9:24pm, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 130 Bowdoin St. in Dorchester for a fight in progress.
On arrival, officers observed numerous items strewn on the floor of the front door of the Walgreen’s. Officers spoke to the store security guard who told officers that he earlier stopped a young male who had shoplifted from the store before he walked out of the door. The security guard reported that the shoplifting suspect left the area when he was confronted but left his backpack, which contained an I-Pod and some personal papers behind. The backpack was recovered by the security guard and brought back to the store.
The suspect later returned to the store to get his backpack and when the security guard attempted to talk to him about the earlier incident he assaulted the security guard, and attempted to grab his firearm. The suspect was unsuccessful in his attempt to get his backpack and fled the store. The incident was however captured on video and during viewing of the video, members the Bowdoin Street Safe Street Team recognized the suspect and identified him as a young male who lived in the area.
Officers responded to the suspect’s house in attempt to arrest him but were unsuccessful in gaining access to the suspect’s house and recovered the bag and took it back to the station to log it into evidence. While officers were writing this report, the suspect confronted officers from the Safe Street Team about his bag. Officers then placed a 16-year old juvenile from Dorchester under arrest and charged him Assault and Battery for assaulting the security guard and Shoplifting.
