K-9 Locates B&E SuspectYesterday afternoon around 12:09pm, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to 35 Longfellow St. in Dorchester for a breaking and entering on progress.
There, officers went around both sides of the house to the back in search of a suspect. While circling the house, officers observed an individual walking from the rear of the house toward the front of the house. As soon as the suspect observed officers, he changed direction and fled back toward the rear of the house. The suspect jumped over a fence in the back yard and continued to run in effort to evade arrest. Officers pursued the victim through several backyards and numerous streets losing sight of the suspect on Leroy Street.
A number of other officers arrived and formed a perimeter around the area that the suspect had last been seen. A canine officers was requested to the location that the suspect was last seen, and a short while later found the suspect hiding under a deck in the rear of 22 Leroy Street. The suspect was brought back to the scene of the crime where a witness positively identified him.
The suspect, Anton Polanco, 19, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering a Residence in the Daytime.
No Escape for Unarmed Robbery Suspect
About 5:02pm yesterday, Monday, May 6, 2008, officers from District E-18 (Hyde Park and Roslindale) responded to 1293 Hyde park Ave. for a robbery during which the suspect forcibly stole the victim’s cell phone.
En route, officers were given a description of the suspect and observed someone matching the suspect description in the area of Hyde Park Ave. and Dana Avenue. Officers drove toward the individual matching the suspect description to ascertain his identity when he ran to the rear of the McDonald’s and jumped over the fence into a neighboring back yard. Officers pursued the suspect, and were finally able to stop the suspect in front of McDonald’s after he double back.
The suspect, Epshod D. Decastor, 17, of Hyde Park was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery after the victim and witnesses positively identified him.
Officers later learned from the victim that the suspect approached her and her friends while they were at a bus stop, and forcibly took the phone from the victim and fled.
Quality of Life Complaints Prompt Arrests
Last night around 9:58pm, officers from the B-3 Codman Square Safe Street Team arrested Kelvin Matos, 18, of Dorchester, and a 16 year-old male from Dorchester and charged them with Being Disorderly Persons.
Officers responded to the area of 16 Algonquin Street in Dorchester initially to respond to ongoing complaints, 911 calls, community complaints of loud music, drug use, large groups loitering and blocking sidewalk, trespassing and a total disregard by loitering groups for passersby and residents and their quality of life.
Officers arrived on scene and were confronted by a large group of young men ranging in age from 15 years old to men in their late twenties. Officers explained to the group that they had received numerous complaints about activity outside the location and that they could not continue to gather there and cause a disturbance as they had been doing. As officers continued to clear the sidewalk of members of this group, several became belligerent and refused to heed officers’ directives to disperse. Specifically, the two above listed suspects refused and created a scene causing residents to look outside their window and commend officers for removing the group, and expressing their approval of the group.
B&E Suspect Arrested Despite Flight
This morning around 5:35am, officers from District B-3 (Mattapan and Dorchester) responded to 25 Wolcott St. in Dorchester for a breaking and entering in progress.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that he was in his house when he heard a noise coming from his bedroom window. The victim then went to his bedroom where he observed the suspect outside his window with the screen and window open. The victim then went outside and followed the fleeing suspect. The victim followed the suspect until he lost sight of him after the suspect ran into a back yard of a house on an adjoining street.
Arriving officer continued to search for the suspect in the area where the victim last saw him, and after a brief search located the suspect in a hiding behind a van in the driveway of 111 Glenway Street. Upon being spotted by officers, the suspect once again tried to flee but was apprehended when he tried to scale a retaining wall.
The suspect, Enik P. Hall, 21, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering in the Daytime in the Daytime. After the suspect was placed under arrest, officers returned to the van where the suspect had been hiding and found a pair of black gloves along with the jacket that the victim initially observed the suspect wearing when he was outside his window.
