STABBING INCIDENT LANDS FIVE IN POLICE CUSTODYAt about 1:20am, on Sunday, May 4, 2008, officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 120 Boylston Street. On arrival, officers located a male suffering from a non-life threatening stab wound. The victim was transported to Mass General for additional treatment. According to witnesses, a group of about 4 to 5 suspects surrounded the victim and, then, began punching and kicking him. During the attack, one witness states he observed an individual holding a knife. A description of the suspects was promptly broadcast over Channel 2 of the police radio. In short time, officers located five individuals matching the description of the suspects. While the suspects were being detained, witnesses were brought to the scene so as to provide a positive identification.
After the suspects were positively identified, officers arrested Steven Thoi, 25, of Malden, Don Tran, 26, of Randolph, Tony Dang, 23, of Quincy, Peter Huynh, 27, of Malden, Mark Nguyen, 24, of Roslindale and charged all five with Assault & Battery By Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
THREE ARMED ROBBERS ARRESTED IN ROXBURY
At about 3:39am, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed in the area of 10 Trotter Court. On arrival, officers spoke to three victims who stated that they were at a party when two individuals approached them and asked for a ride. The victims say, after talking with the suspects for a while, they agreed to give the suspects a ride. However, during the course of the ride, one of the suspects made a phone call. Upon ending his phone call, the suspect asked the victims if they could pick up his friend. The victims agreed. However, when the 3rd suspect entered the car, he quickly pulled out a knife and demanded money from the victims. During the course of the robbery, the suspect, on several occasions, struck the victims with the butt end of the knife. All three victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries on the scene. The suspects then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. A description of the suspects was promptly broadcast over Channel 5 of the police radio. In short time, officers located three individuals matching the description of the suspects. A pat frisk of the suspects enabled officers to recover the knife used in the incident. Moreover, officers were able to recover items (credit cards, bank cards, personal papers) in the names of the victims.
After the suspects were positively identified, officers arrested Marco Rodriguez, 19, of Roxbury, Jesus Ortiz, 17, of Roxbury, a 16 year-old male from Roxbury and charged all three with Armed Robbery.
RUNNING ONTO THE FIELD AT FENWAY NEVER A SMART MOVE
At about 9:56pm, on Saturday, May 3, 2008, officers, performing a paid detail at Fenway Park during the Boston Red Sox/Tampa Bay Rays game, were called to assist with a disturbance on the field. The suspect in this case jumped onto the playing surface after entering the field from an area near the right field box seats. The suspect jumped onto the playing surface while the game was in progress. Once on the field, suspect began running across the field. However, in short time, the wanna-be-ballplayer was run down and apprehended by Red Sox security and Boston Police detail officers. Officers arrested Greg Timmins, 37, of Tappan, New York and charged him with Disturbing the Peace. Any and all reports describing the aforementioned individual as a Yankees fan are, at this time, wholly unsubstantiated.
