Suspect Arrested for Assaulting FriendYesterday, Friday, April 11, 2008, officers from District A-1 (Charlestown and Downtown) responded to a radio call for a possible stabbing in the area of Maffa Way and Cambridge Street.
On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who pointed to the suspect who was standing about 30 feet away and stated, “He robbed me, and he has a knife!” The victim who was visibly shaken and pacing back and forth showed officers his finger that was bleeding, and a scratch mark on his neck caused by the suspect’s knife. The victim went to tell officers that he and the suspect who are known to each other were traveling in the victim’s car when the suspect asked for some money. The victim replied that he would not give the suspect any money knowing that it would be used for drugs. The suspect, after this exchange then brandished a knife and put it to the victim’s neck and threatened to kill the victim if he did not give the suspect some money. At this point, the victim reported that he pushed the knife from his neck causing a laceration to his finger and a scratch on his neck.
The suspect, Alex A. McCallum, 20, of Somerville was arrested and charged with Intent to Rob While Armed, and Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. The knife used by the suspect was also recovered from the suspect.
Unlicensed Taxi Driver Arrested for Robbery
Last night around 8:30pm, officers from District C-6 (South End) working at the kiosk located at the South Bay Mall were approached by the victim of a robbery.
The victim reported that she had just been robbed a person operating an unlicensed taxi service. The victim reported that she approached the suspect, whom she had seen before, in front of Stop&Shop and asked for a paid ride to a certain location. The victim next reported that she withdrew money from her purse when the suspect grabbed her money and fled on foot.
Officers then had the victim get in a marked cruiser and drove her around in an effort to find the suspect. As officers drove in the direction that the suspect had fled, the victim pointed out the suspect in the parking lot of the Stop&Shop gas station.
Officers then exited the cruiser, and placed suspect, Joao M. Santos, 47, of Brockton under arrest charging him with Unarmed Robbery.
More Than Just a Stolen Car
At approximately 11:14pm last night, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force (Gang Unit) arrested suspect, Jeury Medina, 20, of Roslindale and charged him with Receiving Stolen Property, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License, Possession of Class B, Possession of Class A, Possession of Class A with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Class A with Intent to Distribute in a School Zone.
This arrest was initiated when officers queried a motor vehicle with a broken taillight in the area of Columbia Road and Quincy Street. The results of the query determined that the car was stolen in Boston this same date. Other units responded to the area and were able to successfully stop the vehicle at the intersection of Quincy St. and Blue Hill Avenue. There the suspect was placed under arrest for Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked Licensed.
During a search incident to lawful arrest, officers recovered a bill-fold containing cocaine. During a continued search of the suspect, officers recovered a clear plastic bag containing 12 plastic bags of heroin.
