Suspect Arrested After Attempted AttackLast night, Saturday, April 5, 2008 around 9:26pm, officers from District D-14 (Allston and Brighton) responded to a radio call indicating that a Hispanic male, 5’6” in height, wearing a blue shirt tried to assault a victim near the Cambridge St. and Harvard Ave. Bridge.
Officers responded to the area of the call, and a short time later observed an individual matching the suspect description walking at a fast pace on Harvard Ave. from the direction of Cambridge Street. Repeatedly looking over his shoulder. Detectives approached the suspect, and identified themselves to the suspect as police officers. After officers identified themselves, the suspect reached for his pants in an excited manner. Officers fearing that the suspect was armed conducted a pat frisk of his outer clothing, and recovered a large double-edged knife from his pocket.
The victim who had been attacked earlier responded to the scene responded to the officers location and positively identified the suspect as the one who had attacked her on the Mass Pike footbridge.
Officers interviewed the victim who reported that she had gotten off the bus, and as she crossed the footbridge, which is enclosed, she observed the suspect in the middle area of the bridge. The victim reported that the suspect appeared to be looking at her as she approached his location on the bridge. The victim reported that as she neared the suspect, he lunged at her, swiping at her and attempted to take hold of her. The victim was able to evade the suspect, and fled from the area.
The suspect, Oscar Renderos, 25, of Allston was arrested and charged with Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault with Intent to Rob.
Knife Assault at 31 Gayhead Street
This morning around 1:25am, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a person stabbed at 31 Gayhead St. in Jamaica Plain.
On arrival, officers observed the victim on the sidewalk in front of 30 Gayhead St. suffering from multiple stab wounds, bleeding from the upper torso and face. Boston EMS responded to the scene, and transported the victim to Boston Medical Center suffering from life threatening injuries.
Officers interviewed witnesses, and the victim who reported that they were at a party at 31 Gayhead St. when they saw the suspect, who is known to the victim. Officers learned that when the victim exited from the party, she and the suspect started fighting. It was further reported to officers that during the fight, the suspect removed a knife from her pocket and stabbed the victim multiple times. The suspect then fled the scene with three other unidentified females in an unknown motor vehicle. During the interview process, officers learned that the victim has been the victim of ongoing harassment by the suspect for the last couple of months.
Officers later learned that the victim suffered eight separate stab wounds at the hands of the suspect. The victim’s injuries at this time are deemed life threatening.

Drunken, Disorderly Hotel Guest Spends Night in Jail Cell
At approximately 2:18am today, officers from District D-4 (South End) responded to the Marriott Hotel located at 100 Huntington Ave. in Boston for an intoxicated male refusing to leave the hotel.
On arrival, officers poke to hotel security who reported that an unruly hotel guest had been asked to leave the hotel, but was refusing to do so. Officers poke to the unruly guest and reiterated the demands of the hotel, and escorted the unruly guest to his room to gather his belongings. At the room, officers discovered two more individuals in the room. Again, at the room, officers explained to the other two individuals in the room that they were being asked to leave the hotel due to the conduct of their friend. One of the two individuals complied while the other refused telling officers, “I’m not leaving, I’m not going anywhere…I know my rights!” Officers requested that the guests leave peacefully or be subject to arrest. The one hotel guest who was refusing to leave, now caused to other two to become agitated and they also began yelling and encircled officers and began yelling.
At this time, officers placed the most unruly of the three guests, Kensley R. Barrett, 31, of Greenville, RI under arrest for Being a Disorderly Person, and Trespassing after a brief struggle. The other two guests peacefully left the room after the suspect was placed under arrest.
