After a thorough and exhaustive investigation, detectives from the Boston Police Homicide Unit assisted by officers from District B-2 (Dorchester and Roxbury) and D-4 (South End) arrested suspect, Jose Torres, 26, of the South End and charged him with Murder relative to the homicide that occurred at 689 Washington Sreet in Dorchester.The victim of that homicide has been identified as Melissa Santiago, 29, of Dorchester.
Homicide detectives, almost immediately after responding to the incident, determined that the suspect, Santiago, was a person of interest and followed up this determination with further investigation. After further examination and investigation, officers, in conjunction with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, placed the suspect under arrest. Suspect was arrested late this afternoon, Sunday, March 9, 2008, and is being booked on the charge of Murder. He will be arraigned at Dorchester District Court on a charge of Murder tomorrow, Monday, March 10, 2008.
