Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested with FirearmAt approximately 9:07pm last night, officers from District C-6 (South Boston and Dorchester) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 63 Boston St./Marriott Hotel.
On arrival, officer spoke to victims who reported that a described black male robbed them at gunpoint while walking from the Holiday Inn Express back to their hotel. The victims then reported that the suspect fled in the direction of the Target Store located in the South Bay Mall. Officers, during investigation of the incident, were able to capture images of the suspect on closed circuit security television maintained by Target.
A description of the suspect was broadcast and about a half hour later and several miles from the scene of the incident, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) observed an individual matching the suspect description at the intersection of Bowdoin and Dever Streets. The suspect was stopped and a violent struggle ensued before he could be handcuffed. Further investigation revealed the suspect to be in possession of a firearm. The victims were transported to the scene and positively identified the suspect.
Suspect, Leonard J. Thomas, 43, Roxbury was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Resisting Arrest.
Suspect Comes Back Home to Get Arrested
Last night around 11:18pm, officers from the Youth Violence Task Force (Gang Unit) arrested suspect, Joseph C. Taylor, 18, of Dorchester and charged him with Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation that started around 8:44pm when officers observed an individual “known to them” suddenly exit a car and flee down Devon St. while holding his waist area. Officers followed the suspect as he fled down Columbia Rd. towards Blue Hill Ave. and in front of 125 Devon St. observed him retrieve a gun from his waist and discard it in the front yard. Officers recovered the discarded firearm and continued to pursue the suspect but lost sight of him after he climbed fence crossing over to Stanwood Street.
Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and requested assistance from other officers. Numerous units flooded the area of the incident but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. While in the area, officers observed an individual who had been in the car with the suspect near the front of 125 Devon St., the area where the gun had been discarded by the suspect, and attempted to stop him. That individual fled when police attempted to approach him and speak to him.
Officers continued to monitor the area since they knew the suspect lived in the area, and around 11:44pm observed two individuals in front of 93 Devon Street. Officers stopped the two individuals and discovered one of them to be the suspect that had discarded the firearm, and the other an occupant of the car that the suspect had exited. The suspect was placed under arrest, and his companion questioned about his identity.

About 12:06am today, officers from District E-5 (Roslindale and West Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident at 126 Wren St. in West Roxbury
On arrival, officers spoke to the operator who reported to officers that he was traveling down Wren St. towards Rutledge St. when he lost control, and struck a parked and unattended car causing his car to rollover. The operator then told officers that he had no license and that he had stolen the car keys from his mother. Further check via Mobile Data Terminal (computer in police cruiser) revealed that the operator’s license was revoked, and that he had several six outstanding warrants. The passenger in the suspect car was transported to the hospital with minor injuries while he refused medical attention.
The suspect, Richard Blaquere, 27, of West Roxbury was arrested and charged with Operating, and use Without Authority.
