Car Thief Caught Getting Into Stolen CarOn Monday, February 11, 2008, around 11:00am, officers from the Governor’s Auto Task Force located an unoccupied stolen car at the intersection of Clarkson and Barry Streets. The vehicle had been reported stolen the day before to Boston Police.
After locating the vehicle, officers set up surveillance on the car. After watching the car for a while, officers observed an individual approach the car and enter the car in the driver’s side door. At this time, officers started to converge on the suspect to place him under arrest. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed the suspect get out of the car and start walking away. The suspect, as officers got closer to him, immediately started running, and attempted to flee from officers jumping over a fence in the back of a house. Officers pursued the suspect losing sight of him briefly but again located him wearing only a t-shirt on Puritan Avenue. There, the suspect was stopped and placed under arrest.
Suspect, Andrew L. Singleton, 23, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle. After placing the suspect under arrest, officers retraced his path and found the keys to the car, which had been stolen with the keys in the ignition.
Suspect Arrested After Stabbing Incident
Around 2:06pm yesterday, February 11, 2008, officers from District A-1 (Downtown and Charlestown) responded to a call for a person stabbed at 9 O’Meara Ct. in Charlestown.
On arrival, officers met with the victim who told officers that he had been attacked by a group of teenagers that followed him from a supermarket. The victim told officers that he was specifically stabbed by a Hispanic male wearing a black jacket, and a red hat with the letter “C” on it. Officers broadcast a description of the suspect and the direction that he had last been observed walking and requested an ambulance for the victim.
Officers in response to the broadcast were patrolling the area of 160 Bunker Hill Ave. when they observed a Hispanic male matching the suspect description walking into a store at that location. That individual was stopped for questioning and during that stop officers recovered a pocketknife from his person. The suspect was returned to the scene to see if the victim could positively identify the suspect.
As officers arrived at the scene of the crime, the victim who was being escorted to the back of the ambulance immediately exclaimed, “That’s him! The one with the red hat…that’s the one who stabbed me!” The suspect, Joseph M. Sierra, 19, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Disrespect Sends B&E Suspect to Jail
Last night around 11:22pm, officers from District E-13 (Roxbury and Jamaica Plain) responded to a call for a Breaking and Entering in progress at Evelyn’s market located at 298 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain.
On arrival, officers observed the front door of the market was smashed and glass shards all over the floor, inside and outside the store. In addition, officers observed a large trash barrel on the floor, along with a female yelling, “They disrespected me!” Officers spoke to this individual and she told officers that someone had disrespected her earlier and that she believed the person to still be there. Officers then spoke to the store employees who reported that they were closing shop for the night when the suspect threw a barrel through the front door shattering the glass door. After throwing the barrel through the window, the suspect, per witnesses and victims, entered the store and started yelling at them.
Suspect, Jocelyn M. Valentin, 21, of Jamaica Plain was arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering with Intent to Commit a Felony, and Destruction of Property Over $250.
