DAILY INCIDENTS FOR SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2008

UNARMED ROBBERY LEADS TO 3 ARRESTS IN HYDE PARKAt about 2:02pm, on Thursday, February 7, 2008, officers from Area E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a radio call for an unarmed robbery in the area of 1282 River Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that she was sitting in a pizza shop (Piece-a-Pizza) when a black male entered the location and sat down next to her. Neither the victim nor her friend, who was sitting with her, knew the suspect. When the victim attempted to speak to the suspect, the suspect swore at the victim, pushed her and, then, stole her cell phone. According to the victim, the suspect, a black male, fled the scene with two other black males. A description of the suspects was broadcast over Channel 4 of the police radio. In short time, officers located three individuals fitting the description provided by the victim. Upon locating the suspects, officers asked all three to produce their cell phones. After producing their cell phones, the suspects were asked to unlock their phones. Two of the suspects could, one could not. When asked why he couldn’t unlock his phone, the suspect stated that he couldn’t remember his code. At this point, the victim was brought to the scene where she was able to positively identify the suspects. Officers arrested a 16 year-old from Dorchester and two 15 year-olds and charged all three with Unarmed Robbery.
CAR BREAK LANDS ONE IN CUSTODY
At about 1:06am, on Thursday, February 7, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person breaking into a motor vehicle at 77 West Cottage Street in Dorchester. While en route to the call, officers received a description of the suspect. On arrival, officers located the suspect standing next to a motor vehicle with the passenger-side door open. Officers also observed that the front passenger side window had been smashed and a large rock, about the size of a grapefruit, was found lying on the passenger seat. When officers approached the individual, he immediately closed the door of the car and fled. After a short foot pursuit, officers were able to apprehend the suspect. A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover a car radio faceplate, a remote control for the car radio, 2 cell phones and a cell phone charger. The owner of the motor vehicle was able to identify the stolen items. Officers arrested Henry Soto, 27, of Boston and charged him with Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle, Willful & Malicious Destruction of Property and Receiving Stolen Property. While being transported from the scene, the suspect, Mr. Soto, told officers, “Alright officer I did it. Take me in. Take me to jail. I did it.”
NEIGHBORHOOD DRUG UNIT ARRESTS ONE
At about 4:00pm, on Thursday, February 7, 2008, officers from the Area C Neighborhood Drug Unit observed an individual, who was the subject of investigation, conduct what appeared to be a drug transaction in the area of 3900 Washington Street. When officers approached the suspect, the suspect dropped an item to the ground. Upon recovering the object, officers noted that the item was a small plastic bag containing what appeared to be heroin. Officers arrested Galvis Lara, 20, of Roslindale and charged him with Possession of a Class A Drug (heroin). In addition to the arrest, a search warrant was executed at the suspect’s main residence. The warrant enabled officers to recover a loaded firearm, undisclosed amounts of marijuana and heroin, several plastic bags and a scale. As a result of items recovered during the search warrant, the suspect was charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition and Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class D Drug (marijuana).
