Search Warrant Removes Three Firearms and Drugs From Home in DorchesterOn Wednesday, January 30, 2008, officers from the District B-2 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant at 349 Adams St. in Dorchester. This search warrant was attained by officers from Dorchester District Court after an extensive investigation yielded enough evidence to believe that there was contraband drugs and weapons at that location.
Officers entered that location and during execution of the search warrant recovered the following items:
1) One Glock semi-automatic 9mm firearm
2) One Smith and Wesson .45 Caliber semi-automatic firearm
3) One Cobray 9 mm semi-automatic firearm with obliterated serial number
4) One large capacity magazine with 30 9mm rounds
5) 161 rounds of various caliber ammunition
6) Over $600 of US currency
7) 58 grams of crack cocaine
8) Multiple bags of marijuana
9) 2 bullet-resistant vests
10) Brinks safe which contained a number of the above mentioned items
11) Test tubes
12) One digital scale
After securing the above-mentioned items, officers arrested Bobby Jackson, 36, of Dorchester and charged with multiple counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Class D, and Trafficking Class B.
The suspect will be arraigned today at Dorchester District Court.
Subject Stop Leads to Recovery of Ammunition
Last night, officer from District B-2 were on patrol when they observed an individual walking up Brinton Street. Officers continued up Brinton St. and noticed that this individual is someone with one they were familiar with from past interactions.
Officers approached this individual for the purpose of engaging him in conversation and to conduct a Field Interrogation/Observation report/FIO. As officers approached this individual, officers observed his demeanor to change and made note that he was visibly nervous and backing away from them while putting his hand into his pocket. As officers attempted to complete the FIO, the suspect continued to back up and kept putting his hands in his pocket despite the officers’ request.
Noticing this behavior, officers decided to conduct a pat frisk of the subject to ensure their safety. As officers were attempting to conduct a pat frisk of the subject, he again started backing up and tried to reach into his back pocket. At this time, officers made note of a large bulge in the subject’s rear pocket, the same one he had been trying to reach. A pat frisk of the subject was conducted and officers recovered box holding 50 rounds
of ammunition.
Suspect, Dashawn T. Cole, 17, of Roxbury was then placed under arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Possession of Class D for marijuana found on his person during the booking search.
Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Firearm
About 9:07pm yesterday, officers from District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) while patrolling the area of Forest Hills St. and Washington St. queried a motor vehicle whose registration was barely visible and dirty. That query revealed that the car’s insurance was cancelled and its registration was revoked.
Based on that information, officers conducted traffic stop a traffic stop at the intersection of Montebello Rd. and Marmion St. in Jamaica Plain. Officers, on approach of the vehicle, were immediately overcome with a strong odor of marijuana and noticed that the front passenger was clutching an open bottle of beer between his legs. In addition, officers observed a large folding knife in the center console.
The occupants were removed based on the above-mentioned observations to conduct a pat frisk for the presence of any more weapons and/or contraband. Officers removed the occupants and attempted to pat frisk the passenger that had been holding the open bottle of bee. That individual then started backing away from officers as they attempted to pat frisk him and increasingly became more nervous. Officers then secured that individual and asked him if he had any weapons or contraband on his person at which time he stated, “Yes, it’s on my right hip.” Officers then recovered a loaded semi-automatic firearm. During a pat frisk of the driver, officers recovered a small bag of marijuana.
The operator of the car, John A. Bynoe, 37, of Newton was arrested and charged with Possession of Class D, and suspect/passenger, Axel Mercado, 27, of Jamaica Plain, was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful of Ammunition, Unlawful Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon on a Public Way, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, and Drinking in Public.
During a search of the car incident to arrest, officers recovered three partially smoked blunt marijuana cigarettes.
No License, Stolen Car and Stolen Plates=Arrest
This morning around 12:59am, officers from district D-4 (South End) on patrol queried a motor vehicle that they observed traveling in the area of Massachusetts Ave. and Albany Street. Resulting information from that query reported that the registration plates on the car were stolen.
A traffic stop of the car was conducted at the intersection of Albany St. and East Newton Street. Officers approached the operator of the car and asked for his license. The suspect/operator replied, “I don’t have one!” The operator was then instructed to get out of the car along with the passengers of the car. During a check of the car, officers discovered a registration for a car. Officers queried that registration, and discovered that the car was also stolen not just the plates.
The operator of the car, Juan Cabrera, 19, of Framingham was arrested and charged with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor a Vehicle, and Attaching Plates.
