At approximately 1:45pm yesterday, members of the Boston Police Special Investigations Unit, and Fugitive Apprehension Unit along with members of the F.B.I. Violent Crime Task Force arrested Angel Robles, 33, of Boston on an outstanding Roxbury Court warrant for Armed Bank Robbery.This arrests stemmed from a bank robbery that occurred on 12/31/07 at the Bank of America located at 410 Brookline Ave. in Roxbury. Officers from District B-2 responded to the bank on that day after receiving a call for a hold up alarm. There, officers learned that the suspect had walked up to a teller, and handed her a note stating “Stick up! $10,000, put $10,000, $100s, $50s, $20s on the counter. No tricks, no stupid moves, and nobody gets hurt or I start shooting, starting with you!” The suspect then told the teller to hurry and be quiet. An undetermined amount of money was given to the suspect after which he fled. Officers received a description of the suspect, and canvassed the area but were unsuccessful in locating the suspect.
After the above incident, the Boston Police Special Investigations Unit along with the F.B.I. Bank Robbery Task Force undertook an exhaustive investigation. This investigation lead officers to confirm the identity of the suspect as, Angel Robles. Based on this investigation, officers responded to 45 Bournedale St. in Jamaica Plain where the suspect was arrested without incident as he exited that location.
During the arrest of suspect, Robles, officers came into contact with another individual, Pedro Ortiz, 32, of Jamaica Plain who was with him and Ortiz was detained as part of the ongoing investigation. After interviewing Ortiz, officers arrested him and turned him over to Newton Police in relation to a bank robbery that had taken place there.
At this time, Angel Robles is believed to be a suspect in a number of other bank robberies that have taken place. The investigation into Robles’ connection to other robberies remains under investigation.
