HOMICIDE VICTIM IDENTIFIEDOn January 16, 2008 at 1:16 pm officers responded to Beech Street and Washington Street in Roslindale on a report of persons shot. On arrival officers located a vehicle containing three males ranging in age from approx. 17-23 years old suffering from gunshot wounds.
The investigation has revealed that four individuals were in a vehicle and were fired upon at the corner of Metropolitan Ave. and Poplar Street. The vehicle continued down the street to the corner of Beech Street and Washington Street where they summonsed assistance. Three victims were rushed to area hospitals. The fourth victim was taken to the hospital, but was not suffering from gunshot wound.
One victim has been pronounced. This victim has been identified as 23-year-old Darrius Jones of Dorchester.
A second victim is listed in critical condition and being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest. The third victim was treated for a non-life threatening wound to the leg.
SPECIAL NOTE: Police are specifically asking any passengers who were riding the #50 MBTA bus passing by Metropolitan Ave and Poplar Street at the time of the shooting to please come forward. The contact information provided below will put the passengers in contact with the proper authorities.
