BOSTON POLICE INVESTIGATE TWO AFTERNOON SHOOTING INCIDENTSGUNFIRE CLAIMS ONE LIFE AND INJURES SEVERAL OTHERS
Today the Boston Police responded to two afternoon shooting incidents in separate locations. One incident occurred in Roslindale, which claimed one life and injured two others. A second incident occurred in Dorchester and critically injured one victim.
In response, Boston Police will be increasing patrols to both areas. The Boston Regional Intelligence Unit is working very closely with Homicide investigators and district detectives to develop information about the facts and circumstances surrounding these incidents. In addition, officers from the Crimestoppers Unit and Safe Street Teams will be distributing pamphlets to residents with information regarding the anonymous Text-A-Tip program.
Incident Description:
On January 16, 2008, at 1:15pm a black male in his late twenties was shot outside of 82 Topliff Street in Dorchester. Officers responded to the scene and located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Today at 1:16 pm officers responded to Beech Street and Washington Street in Roslindale on a report of persons shot. On arrival officers located a vehicle containing three males ranging in age from approx. 17-23 years old suffering from gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigation revealed that four individuals were in the vehicle and were fired upon at the corner of Metropolitan Ave. and Poplar Street. The vehicle continued down the street to the corner of Beech Street and Washington Street where they summonsed assistance. Three victims were rushed to area hospitals. The fourth victim was taken to the hospital, but was not suffering from gunshot wound.
One victim has been pronounced. His identity will be released pending family notifications. A second victim is listed in critical condition and being treated for a gunshot wound to the chest. The third victim is being treated for a non-life threatening wound to the leg.
SPECIAL NOTE: Police are specifically asking any passengers who were riding the #50 MBTA bus passing by Metropolitan Ave and Poplar Street at the time of the shooting to please come forward. The contact information provided below will put the passengers in contact with the proper authorities.
