Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis today announced an arrest in the January 6 homicide of 23-year-old Joseph N. Clarke of Dorchester.Rayon Gillespie, 23, of Dorchester turned himself in to Boston Police last night after homicide detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest in the course of an ongoing Special Grand Jury investigation by Suffolk prosecutors.
Gillespie is expected to be arraigned for Clarke\’s murder late this morning or early this afternoon in the Dorchester Division of the Boston Municipal Court Department.
Shortly before 2:00am on Sunday, January 6, Boston Police responded to the intersection of Norton and Bowdoin streets in Dorchester for a report of a person shot. On arrival, they found Clarke suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Clarke was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead of his injuries.
