MAN WITH MACHETE ARRESTED IN ROXBURYAt about 9:53pm, on Monday, January 7, 2008, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a radio call for a person with a knife near the intersection of Estey and Lawn Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to witnesses who stated that they observed two armed suspects chasing two other individuals down the street. According to witnesses, one of the suspects was carrying a machete. Officers spoke to the victims who stated that they were walking down the street when a car drove by them and then stopped. According to the victims, after the car came to a sudden stop, the suspects exited the car and began chasing them. Officers arrested Nicheren Peral, 18, of Dorchester and Yeuris Sanquintin, 19, of Boston and charged both with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife).
MOTOR VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO GUN ARREST
At about 9:13pm, on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a motor vehicle speeding along Bowdoin Street. As a result of the car\’s excessive speed, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) in an effort to stop the motor vehicle. Initially, the operator of the motor vehicle chose not to stop, but after a brief pursuit, the suspect did stop his motor vehicle. As officers were approaching the car, the operator exited the vehicle, asking, “What’s up? I got my license right here. I thought someone was following me.” Officers directed the suspect to return to his vehicle. When the suspect re-entered his car, officers observed the suspect move in such a way as if he were hiding an object. Given the suspect’s furtive movements, officers became concerned that the suspect was attempting to hide a firearm. As such, officers directed the suspect to exit the motor vehicle. A search of the motor vehicle enabled officers to locate a firearm hidden beneath the front seat of the car. Officers arrested Jose Miguel DeJesus, 18, of Boston and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Licensed.
THREE UNARMED ROBBERS ARRESTED IN DORCHESTER
At about 6:19pm, on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, members of the Area C Neighborhood Drug Unit observed three individuals the area of Sydney and Sudan Streets running fast and looking back over their shoulders in such a way as to suggest they were being chased. Given their suspicious actions and movements, officers attempted to stop the individuals. When officers stopped one of the individuals, the individual stated, “I didn’t do anything. They just robbed a guy and they took a blue bag.” A short time later, officers were able to apprehend the other two suspects. When asked about the incident, one of the suspects stated, “We just robbed a guy.” Officers were able to locate the victim of the robbery. The victim was able to positively identify all of three suspects. Officers arrested two 16 year-olds from Dorchester and Mark Andrade, 18, of Dorchester and charged all three with Unarmed Robbery.
