Arrest for One Gun Leads to AnotherPursuant to a traffic stop conducted yesterday at 1:04am yesterday, January 5, 2008, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) placed suspects, Dale Newman, 29, of Dorchester, Omar Nogueras, 22, of Boston, and Rodney Marrero, 19, of Dorchester under arrest for various charges.
Officers initially conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Bowdoin St. and Geneva St. for a several violations of the auto laws. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noticed an open bottle of alcohol in the center console of the vehicle. Officers further investigated the alcohol by questioning occupants of the car as to their ages. The front passenger, Lopez indicated to officers that he had purchased the alcohol despite the fact that his license indicated that he was only 19 years of age. The other passengers of the car, when identification was requested of him, stated that he had none but provided officers with a name and date of birth that was not verifiable. Officers asked the operator of the vehicle to step out of the car and as he did so, the rear passenger Newman abruptly jumped out of the back seat and fled while clutching at his waist.
Officers pursued the suspect and after a lengthy foot pursuit where they observed him discard an item from his person, apprehended him. The suspect was placed under arrest after assaulting an officers and fighting to officers to resist being placed under arrest. Officers then returned to where the suspect had thrown the item from his waist and discovered the item discarded to be a fully loaded firearm. Suspect, Newman was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Resisting Arrest, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. The other two passengers were also arrested. Suspect/operator, Marrero was arrested for Possession of Class B, Being a Minor in Possession of Alcohol, and Violation of Auto Laws. The other passenger, Lopez was arrested and charged with outstanding warrants for Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Firearm Without a License, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Subsequent to the arrest of these individuals, officers performed a search of the car, and recovered another firearm hidden in the backseat. As a result of this find, all suspect will be further charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device.

Around 1:25am yesterday, Saturday, January 5, 2008, officers performing a paid detail at 150 Canal St. in Boston/ Hurricane O’Reilly’s observed a disturbance in the middle of the dance floor and responded.
In the middle of the floor, officers separated the fighting parties and ordered the participants out of the bar. One of the participants was escorted toward the front door but turned around and attempted to re-enter the bar. Officers ordered this individual out several times before she complied. However, before exiting the bar, this individual turned around and punched the detail officer in the face.
The rowdy customer, Julie Chace, 23, of Somerville was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. After being placed under arrest, the suspect was extremely animated yelling that she was a girl and that officers should not touch her. Once escorted outside after having been placed under arrest, the suspect turned around and spit in the officer’s face. Suspect, as a result of this second assault on the officer, was charged with a second count of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer.
“Suspect Kicks His Way to Jail Cell”
This morning around 1:50am, officers from District A-1 (Downtown Boston) responded to 50 Salem St. in Boston for an individual trying to kick in the door to Goody Glover’s bar after it had been closed.
On arrival, officers met and spoke with the victim who reported that a suspect known to him only by the name of Marty had kicked in the door stating he needed to get his sister’s phone. Per victim/witness the suspect kicked the door at least four times, breaking the door on the fourth kick. The victim reported to officers that he knew where the suspect’s sister lived but did not have an address for the suspect. Officers responded to the suspect’s sister’s house where he was found outside.
The suspect, Martin T. Birdsall, 24, of Sea Girt, NJ, was returned to the location of the incident where he was positively identified, arrested and charged with Malicious Destruction of Property.
Speeding Driver’s Destination is a Prison Cell
About 2:26am today, officers from District B-2 arrested suspect, Jarrod Rogers, 28, of Roxbury and charged him with Operating to Endanger.
The suspect came to officers’ attention in the area of 150 Blue Hill Ave. while they were monitoring the closing of the Breezeway Bar. While there, officers observed a motor vehicle being operated erratically at a high rate of speed illegally pass a car nearly causing an accident. Officers immediately activated their emergency lights and sirens and attempted to catch up with the suspect’s motor vehicle. While following the suspect’s motor vehicle, officers further observed the suspect’s car swerving in and out of its travel lane, illegally pass other cars by going into the oncoming traffic lane, and almost cause another accident.
Officers were finally able to stop the speeding car at the intersection of Dudley St. and Harrison Avenue. There, officers questioned the suspect as to his reason for driving so erratically. The suspect responded that he was on his way home and was in a rush because he had to go to work in the morning.
