EXCESSIVE WINDOW-TINTING LANDS ONE IN CUSTODYAt about 2:00am, on Thursday, November 29, 2007, officers from Area B-2 (Roxbury) observed a motor vehicle with an expired inspection sticker traveling along Linwood Street. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. As officers were approaching the motor vehicle, officers observed the tinting on the motor vehicle’s windows to be well above the legal limit. A test of the window’s tinting, through the use of a tint meter, showed that the tinting was, in fact, illegal. When officers asked the operator of the motor vehicle to produce a driver’s license and registration, the operator stated, “I don’t have one on me.” An inquiry via the MDT (the computer inside the cruiser) showed the individual’s license to be suspended. A search of the motor vehicle enabled officers to locate a large double-edged sword.
Officers arrested Kevin Sutton, 22, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating after License Suspended and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon. Additionally, officers issued citations for Excessive Window Tinting and Invalid Inspection Sticker.
PHIL COLLINS’ FAN FINDS HIMSELF BEHIND BARS
At about 11:10pm, on Thursday, November 29, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to multiple radio calls complaining of loud music in the area of 587 Beacon Street. On arrival, upon exiting their cruiser, officers could hear loud music emanating from the above mentioned address. Specifically, officers could clearly hear the song, “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins. As officers entered the address, officers were met by several disgruntled neighbors. In fact, one neighbor stated, “Please do something about this. It’s like this every night.” When officers knocked on the door responsible for the music, it took the occupant approximately 15 minutes to answer. When the suspect did answer the door, he immediately became belligerent and argumentative with the officers. When officers asked the individual to produce identification, the suspect stated, “I don’t have an ID and I don’t have to show it to you.” Officers again asked the individual to provide some level of identification. To which, the suspect, again yelling and shouting, stated, “I don’t live here.”
Officers arrested Jonathon Nicholas Toledo, 22, of Boston and charged him with Disturbing the Peace and Being Disorderly. Upon further investigation, with regard to prior calls for service, officers learned that 12 calls had been made regarding the same address.
SHOPLIFTER ARRESTED DOWNTOWN
At about 12:09pm, on Thursday, November 29, 2007, foot patrol officers from Area A-1 (Downtown) observed a heated discussion between two individuals in the area of Washington and School Streets. As officers got closer to the confrontation, officers observed a security guard, employed by Border’s Books, attempting to detain an individual who had just stolen various items (DVD Box Sets) from the store. A short time later, the store manager arrived on the scene and positively identified the suspect. Officers arrested Jeremy McGuire, 33, of Boston and charged him with Shoplifting.
