Two B&E Suspects Arrested in the ActYesterday morning, Wednesday, November 28, 2007 around 6:08am, officers from District A-1 (Downtown) were on patrol in the Park Plaza area when they observed two black males breaking into a motor vehicle in front of 3 Beach Street. The suspects were observed apparently piercing the soft top of a mustang convertible with an iron bar. The officers reversed direction and upon doing so, observed one of the two suspects reaching into the car via the hole that they had just made with the iron bar.
The suspects quickly attempted to flee when they observed the officers. Officers immediately broadcast what they observed, the description of the suspects and requested assistance from other officers. The two suspects were shortly thereafter stopped on Kneeland Street and detained while officers went to check on the car. Back at the car, officers recovered the iron bar used to pierce the convertible top.
Suspects, Roscoe M. Hurley, 35 and Michael A. Sawyer, 39, both of Roxbury were arrested and charged with Breaking and Entering, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
Arrest Warrant Yields Sawed-Off Shotgun
On the morning of Wednesday, November 28, 2007 around 6:47am, officers from the Youth Violence Task Force (Gang Unit) went to 12 Magnolia St. in Roxbury to execute an outstanding arrest for a juvenile wanted by the Department of Youth Services.
On arrival, officers were allowed entry by the juvenile’s mother who directed officers to his room. Prior to officers arriving at the juvenile’s room, he came out and met officers in the hallway of the apartment. Officers re-entered his bedroom with him to allow him to dress properly before being placed under arrest. Once in the room, officers conducted a “protective sweep” of the room to ensure that the suspect had no weapons within arm’s reach that could be used against them. During this protective sweep, officers recovered a sawed-off shotgun.
A 16 year-old juvenile from Roxbury was arrested and charged Possession of a Sawed-Off Shotgun, Failing to Properly Secure a Firearm in addition to the Department of Youth Services warrant.
Vigilant Officers Arrest Suspect with Loaded Gun
Around 10:24am yesterday, officers from the Boston Police S.W.A.T. arrested suspect, Terell Ricker, 22, of Mattapan and charged him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Loaded Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with a Defaced/Altered serial Number.
Officers from the S.W.A.T. unit were on patrol in the area of Warren and Clifford Streets observed an individual in front of 300 Warren St. stare across the street then get in a car and drive across to the other side of the street. Officers maintained their position to see what would transpired, and shortly thereafter observed the suspect approaching another male who was in the parking lot all the while ducking and running as if to avoid being detected. As this was happening, the first individual who had crossed the street then drove in the direction of the suspect.
Having observed this, officers quickly made their way toward the suspect and the car at which point the car quickly drove off. Officers made contact with the suspect, and conducted a “pat frisk” at which point, the presence of an object feeling like a gun was immediately detected in suspect’s right front pocket. Officers secured the suspect and recovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
Safe Street Team Arrests Robbery Suspect and Recovers Stolen Items
Yesterday afternoon around 4:47pm, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) working as part of the Bowdoin Safe Street Team were alerted via police radio that the mother of a victim of a robbery that had taken place on the MBTA had just observed the suspect in the area of Bowdoin St. and Downer Court.
Officers arrived on scene and spoke to the victim’s mother who reported to them that her son had been robbed of a gold chain and a “sidekick” phone while getting of an MBTA train at the Savin Hill MBTA stop. Officers responded to the suspect’s location reported location at 347 Bowdoin St. and there observed and spoke to the victim who was accompanied by his father. The victim and his father stated that the suspect had entered 347 Bowdoin St. before being confronted by the victim and his father.
Officers entered the above location and there observed an individual matching the suspect description given to them by the victim and his mother. The suspect was escorted out of the house and immediately identified by the victim as well as the victim’s chain which suspect was wearing. The suspect was transported to the district where he was found to be in possession of a sidekick matching the description of the victim’s sidekick. The sidekick was in lock mode and the victim was unable to unlock it. The victim responded to the station and was able to unlock the phone after identifying it as the one that had been stolen from him.
Suspect, Sandro Rosa, 20, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, and Receiving Stolen Property.
High Powered Rifle Recovered During “Routine” Call
Last night, Wednesday, November 28, 2007 around 6:43pm, officers responded to 202 Norwell St. in Dorchester for a complaint of marijuana smell/smoke and a reported history of past problems with the reported unit.
On arrival, officers went to the reported apartment, knocked on the door and were stricken with a strong odor of marijuana when an occupant opened the door. The occupants allowed officers in the apartment where they were overwhelmed with the smell of marijuana. Once in the apartment, one of the two occupants was very evasive with officers giving officers a false name and date of birth. When questioned about the reason for the lies, the male occupant of the house admitted to having an outstanding warrant for unlawful possession of firearm, and additionally stated that the female occupant had also been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm but had had cleared her cases.
Based on the statements given by one of two occupants regarding the gun charges, the behavior of both occupants, the overwhelming smell of marijuana, and the evasive answers and lies told to officers by occupants of the house, officers asked the occupants if there was anything in the house that they should be concerned about, specifically any firearms and they were told “No! Go ahead and search!” Both occupants assisted officers in a partial search of the room, but limited where they directed officers’ attentions. While conducting this protective sweep of the apartment, officers’ attentions were drawn to open closet with a large black bag standing. Officers felt this bag and by the sense of touch determined that the contents of the bag were consistent with a rifle. This was confirmed when officers opened the bag and it was determined that the rifle in the bag was in fact a high powered semi-automatic rifle with three high capacity magazines, two of which were loaded with 28 and 25 round s of ammunition.
Officers arrested suspect, Roberto Rodriguez, 24, of Dorchester and charged him Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Magazine and several outstanding warrants.
