LATE NIGHT FIGHT SENDS FIVE TO JAIL AND TWO OFFICERS TO THE HOSPITALAt about 2:15am, on Saturday, November 24, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a fight in progress in the area of 921 Boylston Street. On arrival, officers observed approximately 10 – 12 people fighting. Upon exiting their cruiser, officers observed an individual lying on the ground, bleeding from what appeared to be a head wound. As a result, officers immediately began separating the combatants. However, while attempting to break up the fight, officers came under attack. Three of the combatants began fighting the officers. During the fight, officers were punched, grabbed and jumped on. As a result of injuries sustained during the altercation, two officers were transported to area hospitals. Officers arrested David Dow, 23, of Lincoln, NH, Edward Dow, 24, of Buzzards Bay & Paul Siezert, 24, of Arlington, VA, and charged all three with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, Affray and Being Disorderly.
With three suspects in custody, officers again began dispersing the crowd. While in the process of instructing people to leave the scene, officers encountered another belligerent individual. In fact, after refusing to leave the area, the individual pushed an officer in the back. After a brief struggle, officers arrested Andre Arzumanyan, 25, of Newton and charged him with Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest.
As Andre Arzumanyan was being placed into custody, his brother, Dave Arzumanyan approached officers and demanded, in a yelling and screaming manner, that his brother be released. According to Dave Arzumanyan, his brother (Andre) hadn’t done anything wrong. At this time, officers, seeing the crowd again beginning to gather, ordered the individual to discontinue his behavior or face arrest. Upon hearing that he could be arrested, the individual stated, “Fine! Arrest me! I want to be arrested!” Officers arrested Dave Arzumanyan, 22, of Newton and charged him with Being Disorderly.
STOLEN CAR LANDS ONE IN JAIL
At about 9:05am, on Saturday, November 24, 2007, officers from Area B-3 (Dorchester/Mattapan) observed a stolen motor vehicle in the area of Southern Avenue. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & siren) in an effort to stop the motor vehicle. However, instead of stopping, the operator of the motor vehicle accelerated the car in an effort to flee. At this point, officers discontinued the pursuit. A short time later, the motor vehicle crashed into the Payless Shoe Store in the area of 590 Washington Street. Responding officers observed the operator of the motor vehicle exit the car in an effort to flee. After a short foot pursuit and brief struggle, officers were able to apprehend the suspect.
Officers arrested a 16 year-old male from Roxbury and charged him with Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, Speeding, Driving to Endanger and Operating Without a License. Once in custody, the suspect complained of injuries and pain suffered when his car hit the building. As a result, the suspect was transported to the Carney Hospital for further evaluation.
