Fatal Shooting at Morton & Norfolk Streets

At approximately 5:51 this evening, officers responded to a radio call for a disturbance at 238 Fuller Street in Dorchester (District B3). Upon arrival, officers encountered a hysterical male with a firearm. The suspect ignored requests by officers to drop his firearm and made his way over to a nearby police cruiser, entered the cruiser and fled.The suspect then crashed the police cruiser into a metal fence in the parking lot of a busy store approximately five blocks away at the corner of Morton and Norfolk Streets in Mattapan. At this point, while again requesting for the suspect to drop his weapon, the suspect continued to make threatening gestures with his firearm. Fearing for the safety of innocent bystanders as well as fellow officers, police discharged their department issued firearms. The suspect was wounded and immediately transported to Boston Medical Center where he was later pronounced.
Multiple officers involved in the incident were transported to local hospitals for injuries and evaluations. The facts and circumstances around this incident continue to be investigated by Boston Police and the District Attorneys Office.
