Three Arrested On Gun ChargesLast night at 8:17pm, members from the Youth Violence Strike Force were participating in “Operations Impact” in the area of Tremont Street and West Newton Street. Officers observed a motor vehicle failed to signal as it negotiated a right turn from Tremont Street onto West Newton Street. At that time officers conducted a traffic stop. Officers observed the rear passenger making movements as they approached the vehicle. Officers could detect a strong odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Officers asked the suspect in the rear passenger seat to exit the vehicle. Upon exiting the vehicle officers observed what appeared to be the handle of a firearm on the rear seat partially covered by a hooded sweatshirt. Officers removed the rest of the occupants from the vehicle.
Jose Lara, 17, Anthony Pena, 18 and Julius Wright, 17 all of Brighton were arrested and charged with Dangerous Weapon Unlawfully Carried, Possession of Firearm with Altered Serial Numbers, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Class D.
Officers recovered a firearms and drugs from the suspects.
Armed Robbery of Pizza Delivery Man
Last night at 9:35pm, officers from District B-2 responded to a radio call for an armed robbery that occurred at 82 Highland Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated while delivering pizzas he want to 82 Highland Street for delivery. The victim stated when he called the callback number he got an answering machine, so he approached the front door of the apartment building, where he observed an unknown male loitering. The suspect asked the victim who was he looking for and when the victim told him, he said he know the people in that apartment and appeared to make a cell phone call to someone and stated the pizza has arrived. At that time the suspect removed a firearm from his jacket and stated to the victim “Give me the money”. The victim handed the suspect the cash and the suspect fled down Highland Street towards Centre Street. The suspect was described as a black male, 6’0”, medium brown complexion, wearing a black cloth on his head, a black parka and dark pants.
