PURSE SNATCHER ARRESTED IN THE SOUTH ENDAt about 7:26pm, on Thursday, November 15, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress at the intersection of E. Newton and George Streets. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated she was walking down the street when a black male approached her and grabbed her handbag. Victim stated she struggled to hold on to her bag but was unable to keep it from the suspect. A description of the suspect was broadcast over the police radio. A short time later, officers located an individual matching the description provided by the victim.
After the suspect was positively identified, officers arrested Mario Gaston Porrata, 25, of Boston and charged him with Unarmed Robbery.
THREE UNARMED ROBBERS ARRESTED IN BRIGHTON
At about 9:16am, on Thursday, November 15, 2007, officers from Area D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a robbery in progress in the area of 465 Cambridge Street. While en route to the call, officers were provided descriptions of three black males who had just committed the robbery. According to the victim, she was waiting to get on a bus when the three suspects approached and demanded her wallet. Officers soon located the individuals matching the descriptions provided by the victim. A search of the suspects produced a credit card and other personal papers belonging to the victim.
Officers arrested Theo Allen, 17, of Dorchester and two 15 year-olds from Dorchester and charged all three with Unarmed Robbery.
HOW NOT TO BEHAVE IN COURT
At about 11:00am, on Thursday, November 15, an officer attending a jury trial at the Dorchester District Court was walking towards the courtroom when an individual swore at him. In an effort to confirm what had just been said to him, the officer asked the individual to repeat himself. At this point, the suspect, now raising his voice and creating a disturbance, again swore at the officer. The officer then asked the suspect to step outside the courthouse.
Once outside, officers arrested a 15 year-old male from Dorchester and charged him with Disturbing a Public Assembly and Being a Disorderly Person.
