Shopping Spree Lands Two In CustodyYesterday at 6:35pm, D-4 (South End) officers responded to 138 Newbury Street (the American Apparel store) for a reported larceny in progress. On arrival, officers met with the store manager who said that she observed two individuals carrying tote bags and using them to conceal merchandise. Both manager and a clerk observed the two suspects pass all points of purchase and exit the store onto Newbury Street, walking in the direction of Clarendon Street.
As officers were collecting this information, the store manager received a call from a manager at H&M who stated that the suspects were now in their store. Officers responded to the H&M store at 92 Newbury Street and observed two people fitting the descriptions provided by the American Apparel manager attempting to exit the store. The suspects were detained and positively identified by the victim. A search of the suspects’ bags revealed stolen merchandise from H&M, American Apparel, Gap, Second Time Around, Karmaloop, Aldo and American Eagle Outfitters.
Joshua Smiley, 20, of Medford and Patrick Benson, 17, of Stoughton were arrested with Shoplifting $200 and over.
Six Breaking And Entering Suspects Arrested
On Wednesday night at around 9:00pm, B-3 (Mattapan) officers responded to a radio call for a reported breaking and entering in progress at 146 Standard Street. On arrival, officers began to walk down the driveway when they observed approximately five Hispanic males running from the rear bulkhead of the building. Officers pursued the suspects on foot and successfully apprehended all parties, who had all fled in various directions. An investigation of the residence revealed the apartment to be in disarray with furniture, clothing, and food to be thrown around.
Rafael DeJesus, 32, of Mattapan, Antwane Haliday, 20, Mattapan, George Acosta, 17, of Mattapan, two 16-year-old juveniles and a 14-year-old juvenile were all charged with Unarmed Breaking and Entering at Night.
Suspect Arrested On Attempted Breaking And Entering Charges
Early this morning, Thursday, November 8th at approximately 2:13am, C-11 (Dorchester) officers responded to 11 Lombard Street for a reported breaking and entering in progress. On arrival, officers observed a black male wearing a white coat that matched a description given to them over a radio broadcast. Upon viewing the police, the man fled to the rear of the residence but was soon apprehended in the backyard.
The victim was able to positively identify the suspect as the individual trying to break into his house. A small brass tool used to break windows was found on the suspect’s person. Thomas Fernandes, 26, of Providence, Rhode Island was subsequently placed under arrest for Attempted Breaking and Entering at Night and Possession of Burglarious Tools.
