Refusing To Stop For The Police Will Land You In JailLate Saturday night at 8:00pm,officers from District A-1 officers observed a white vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign from Marginal Road turning onto Tremont Street. Officers did wave the operator to stop the vehicle. Officers repeatedly instructed the operator to pull the vehicle into an open space and the driver repeatedly asked why. Officers explained that the operator was required by law to pull over upon request by police. At this time it appeared that the driver began to comply and started to pull in the available space. The operator did pull into the space but then quickly sped away from the scene. Officers were able to catch up to the suspect at the intersection of Charles and Warrenton Streets. Sean Bennett, 69, of Somerville was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop for Police.
Two Arrested on Gun Charges
Early Sunday morning at 12:48am, members of the Youth Violence Strike force responded to a radio call for a person with a gun at American Legion Highway and Blue Hill Avenue. The suspect was described as a light skinned male in a black station wagon pulled the gun on the caller and fled in an unknown direction.
Officers were informed that a black station wagon was observed leaving Delhi Street area and took a left onto Babson Street. Officers conducted a stop and ordered both occupants out of the car. As both occupants exited the vehicle officers observed a firearm partially protruding from the passenger seat.
Michael Depeiza, 24 and Edwin Depeiza, 27 both of Mattapan were arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
Man Found Sleeping Outside With Gun On Lap
Early Sunday morning at 1:57am, officers from District E-18 responded to a radio call for a loud party. On arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle unoccupied, windows down, keys in the ignition and the music blasting. Officers turned the music down but could still hear music coming from a house at the corner of Blake and Mariposa Streets. Officers spoke with residence and asked them to lower the music. Officers proceeded back to the vehicle to find out if the owner lived near by.
As officers approached the vehicle they observed an unknown male who appeared to be passed out on the steps of 19 Mariposa Street. Officers approached the individual to check on his well-being. Officers observed a half empty bottle of Captain Morgan at the left side of the individual. As officers got closer they observed what they believed to be a firearm on the right lap of the suspect. Officers recovered the firearm and placed the suspect under arrest.
Nestor Rosado, 20, of Hyde Park was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of alcoholic beverages by person Under 21 and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
Person Shot in Dorchester
Last night at 9:43pm, officers from District B-3 responded to a radio call for shots fired at 73 Greenwood Street. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated he was shot at the corner of Greenwood and Roxton Streets and that the suspects ran to Glenway Street.
The victim described the two suspects, one was a black male 5’-5” wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with long braids and the second suspect was wearing a stripped shirt and white sneakers with a thin build. The victim stated the suspect yelled “Hey Ho” before firing five shots
The victim was transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening. Officers did recover ballistic evidence at the scene.
