NEVER TOO LATE TO MAKE A PINCH
At about 9:40pm, on Thursday, May 24, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress at 147 Massachusetts Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that an unidentified black male, wearing a red Hawaiian shirt, exited a motor vehicle, approached her and then took her purse. The suspect then jumped back inside the car and fled.
Approximately, four months later, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, the same victim from the above incident called police to report that the man who robbed her on May 24, 2007, was standing in front of the Store 24 on Massachusetts Avenue. Officers responded and located an individual matching the description provided by the victim. After being positively identified by the victim, the suspect, Jerome Spencer, 39, of Boston, was arrested and charged with Unarmed Robbery (Purse Snatching).
KNIFE POSSESSING TRESPASSER ARRESTED IN SOUTHIE
At about 5:15pm, on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, officers from Area C-6 (South Boston) observed two individuals milling around the area of Linskey-Barry Court. This area has been the source of numerous complaints attributed to trespassing, loud noise and public drinking. As such, officers approached the two individuals. While speaking to one of the individuals, officers asked if he lived in the development. To which, the suspect replied, “No, I do not.” When officers conducted a search of the suspect, officers discovered a knife with a blade longer than 2 ½” in length. Officers then arrested Joseph O’Reilly, 18, of South Boston and charged him with the Possession of a Dangerous Weapon (Knife) and Trespassing.
