Two Suspects Arrested After Drug DealAround 5:30pm officers from District A-7 (East Boston) were patrolling the Wood Island train station area when two suspicious individuals were observed, apparently waiting for someone. A few minutes later, the two men entered a vehicle that had just pulled up. Officers observed money being exchanged and believed a drug transaction had just taken place. The vehicle containing all three suspects proceeded to travel from its location on Bennington Street to Westbrook Street, where the initial two suspects were dropped off.
Officers broadcasted the direction of the vehicle to other drug unit members and proceeded to stop the two men, now walking down the street. While one suspect was immediately complaint, the other continued to walk away and stated, “You ain’t no cop.” He then reached into his pocket and removed a plastic bag and placed into his mouth. In a nearby trashcan, he attempted to dispose of another bag, which later was discovered to contain approximately twenty hypodermic needles.
Officers recovered narcotics believed to be heroin from both suspects and arrested Christopher Winfield, 22, of Wakefield for Possession of Class A and Being in Company of a Person in Possession of Heroin. The second suspect will be summonsed to East Boston Court for similar charges.
Meanwhile, officers were able to locate the aforementioned vehicle in a Burger King parking lot on Saratoga Street. When officers approached, a different passenger was exiting the vehicle. Upon identifying himself as a police officer to the driver, the suspect abruptly reserved the car, striking the officer, and continued out of the lot at a high rate of speed. The suspect was driving on the wrong side of the road before he ditched his car and proceeded to flee on foot.
Officers eventually apprehended and arrested Roy Febo, 23, of Revere for Distribution of Class A Within 1,000 feet of a School Zone, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon on a Police Officer, Failure to Stop for a Police Officer, and Leaving the Scene after Personal Injury.
Citation Issued for Misuse of Handicap Placard
Last night around 6:29pm, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to assist a detail officer at 7 Allstate Road. The officer stated that he observed a female park her vehicle in a handicap parking space in front of Target, exit the motor vehicle, and run into the store. When the operator returned to the vehicle the officer asked for her disabled persons placard so that he could confirm that it was assigned to her. Upon further investigation it was determined that the placard was assigned to her father. The operator stated that her father was in the Home Depot shopping. The officer informed the operator that she was misusing the placard. The officer seized the placard and issued the operator a parking violation for parking in a handicapped parking space and misusing a disabled person placard.
