East Boston Resident Arrested on Drug PossessionYesterday at 5:39pm, members of the Drug Control Unit from District A-7 executed a search warrant at 115 Orleans Street. Officers knocked and announced their presence and no one answered the door. Officers gained access into the apartment and conducted a protective sweep. Officers found the apartment to be unoccupied at that time. Officers observed a digital scale and a glass plate with marijuana on the kitchen table. Officers could also smell a strong odor of marijuana in the residence. About five minutes later, the target of the investigation entered the apartment.
Robin Cohen, 44, of East Boston was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B within 1,000 feet of a School Zone and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D. Officers recovered numerous plastics bags of marijuana, twelve marijuana plants, potting soil, growing lights, a grinder and a digital scale, as well as textbooks about the drug.
Search Warrant Leads to Arrest
Around 7:00pm last night members of the C-11 Drug Control and Anti-Crime Units were in the process of a surveillance at 17 Kimball Street, in anticipation of the execution of two search warrants they had obtained for that residence. At that time, a suspect exited the residence, got into his vehicle, and proceeded to drive on Kimball Street in the direction of Dorchester Avenue. After activating lights and sirens, officers initiated a motor vehicle stop. Drugs were found on the suspect’s person after he was removed from his vehicle and pat frisked. Officers also obtained the keys to his residence, which they informed the suspect they had a warrant to search.
Officers then proceeded to enter 17 Kimball Street, where ammunition, plastic bags, and a digital scale were found. Gerardo Cannady, 27, of Dorchester was arrested and charged with Possession of Class B Drugs with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Class B Drugs with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School Zone, Conspiracy to Violate Drug Laws, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. Also arrested was Richard Scott, 26, of Dorchester when it was discovered he had outstanding warrants for parole/probation violations and an Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon charge.
Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest
Just after 8:00pm last night, officers responded to a radio call to assist other units in the pursuit of a man with a gun in his car. While en route to the location, a responding officer observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect’s traveling at a high rate of speed through several side streets. A surveillance team was set up at the intersection of Humboldt and Howland Streets, the exact place the suspect was about to take a right hand turn.
Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and attempted to perform a motor vehicle stop. The suspect was uncooperative with officers who ordered him to turn off his vehicle and put his hands in the air. Instead, he attempted to drive away but was unsuccessful as the officers’ vehicles blocked his car. After subduing the suspect and pat frisking him for weapons, officers produced several plastic bags of crack cocaine from his pockets.
Alvin Dorsey, 21, of Dorchester was then placed under arrest for the following crimes: Possession of Class B Drugs, Possession of Class B Drugs with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 feet of a School Zone, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Authority.
Larceny By Scheme
Last night around 10:10pm, a victim walked into District C-6 to report a robbery that took place on Old Colony Avenue in South Boston. The victim stated that via Craig’s List he contacted a man regarding Patriots Game tickets for five hundred dollars. The victim spoke with the suspect via telephone, who told the victim to call him when he got to Andrew Square. The victim called the cell number, but it went to voicemail with no recording.
The suspect called back about ten minutes later and told the victim to meet him outside Kiley’s Bar on Old Colony Avenue. The victim went into the bar but no one approached him so he went back outside, where he was then approached by the suspect. The suspect was described as a white male, 6’4” wearing a yellow t-shirt and denim shorts. The suspect asked for the cash and when the victim handed it to him the suspect handed him an envelope and ran up D Street towards W. 8th Street. When the victim opened the envelope, it only contained old lottery tickets.
