DAILY INCIDENTS FOR FRIDAY, JULY 27, 2007

3 LESS GUNS IN THE CITYAt about 6:38pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force observed an individual running down Dudley Street in Roxbury. When officers approached the individual and identified themselves as police officers, the individual attempted to flee. After stopping the individual, officers discovered the individual to be in possession of a firearm. When asked to produce a license to carry, the individual told officers he didn\’t have one. Officers arrested Jorge Luis Blanco, 22, of Boston, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
At about 7:15pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force, were on patrol in Dorchester when they observed a motor vehicle, with a cracked front windshield, traveling along Columbia Road. While following the motor vehicle, officers observed the car fail to stop for a stop sign. As a result, officers activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. While speaking to the operator of the motor vehicle, officers observed the individual to be extremely nervous (heavy breathing, shaky hands). As a result of the operator’s nervousness, officers asked the operator to exit the motor vehicle. During a search of the motor vehicle, officers recovered a silver semi-automatic firearm. Officers arrested Kareem Fountain, 26, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
At about 11:45pm, on Thursday, July 26, 2007, officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force responded to a radio call for a man with a gun in the area of Bicknell Street. On arrival, officers located an individual matching the description broadcast over Channel 3 of the police radio. When officers observed the suspect, the suspect was sitting on a stoop with another individual. Officers also observed 2 cans of open beer in the area immediately near the individuals. One of the individuals was found to be in possession of a firearm. Officers arrested Harvey Patterson, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm & Ammunition.
