Shooting Incident on Seaver Street Claims Life of 8-Year-Old Child

Last evening at 11:11pm, officers from District B-2 in Roxbury responded to a radio call for a person shot at 266 Seaver St. On arrival, officers located 8-year-old Laquarrie Jefferson suffering from a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.Laquarrie was rushed to Boston Medical Center where he soon succumbed to his injury.
In response, two squads from the Boston Police homicide unit are investigating this case and have been working through the night. In addition, the Boston Police Regional Intelligence Unit responded in and is supporting the homicide detectives in this investigation.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis said, “I am stunned and saddened by the news of Laquarrie’s death. His young life has been cut tragically short by senseless gun violence.”
The initial report at the scene suggested the possibility of armed individuals forcibly entering the home. According to preliminary reports, Laquarrie was shot during that confrontation. At this time, Boston Police are conducting investigations and examining the evidence to see where that information leads.
The department has received several tips concerning this incident, which detectives are following up on.
